The Prospects keep coming. Cubs call up Contreras

Gonna go with 3 catchers for a bit. Kid was tearing it up on the farm

Top catching prospect in minor leagues. Led PCL last season hitting .335 or so. Hitting .354 this season, coming up with a 20-game hit streak. Reputed to be strong defensively as well. Montero a real weakness too, he's become pretty bad all around. Almora and Contreras will be starters next season when the oldest position players will be Rizzo and Heyward at 27.

Who knows if they'll win, every year is a crapshoot, but it's definitely not the "same story." The pitching has been markedly better than in the past. Cubs starters on historic pace. Never seen to win just doesn't even make sense. This year is basically the start of this story. Last year was even a year too soon. You act like they've been good for many years and haven't gotten it done. Maybe you're thinking of a different situation?

I was really rooting for the cubs the past few years to become relevant and it was great to watch Theo transform the team so quickly.

but a little success has gone to so many cub fans' heads very quickly in Chicago...

they got super paper champ syndrome. especially early on when they started so hot.

you'd think they already won a couple WS rings

    now they are talking dynasties!!!

the heart break will be very real and surpass all i've read about 1969, most likely come October

Q: if there's anything to the rumors, who or what do the Cubs give up to the Yankees for chapman or Miller?

Won't be heartbreaking this season. Cubs fans know patience. But if they don't win it in the next 5 seasons with this core, then yes, that would be heartbreaking for Cubs fans. Waited 108 years, what's a few more if that's what it takes. I'd really be surprised if this team doesn't win at least 1 by 2020.

Miller would cost A LOT MORE. Hard to even speculate.

But for Chapman as a rental, I think a couple decent hitting prospects. Dan Vogelbach and Jeimer Calendario (or Billy McKinney) seems to fit.

Going to cost a ton.....If the Yankees play it right there might be an arms race in the NL at the deadline for 2 of the best closers in the league...both lefties

Contreras 2-run HR to dead center on his first MLB pitch seen, as a PH.

Yankees and Cubs closing in on a deal...Chapman for Gleyber Torres, a 19 year old SS....A top 15-20 prospect in MLB and the Cubs best or 2nd prospect

    Nice deal for both sides

I still don't think the Cubs are going anywhere there's just something about him and I think pitching is your biggest problem
