    Apple vs US Government, thoughts

Crazy stuff, especially when you read Apple Ceo Tim Cook point of view in why it's not a good idea to give the Feds more power to people's privacy.

The Court is compelling Apple to comply. If Apple comply's then it will set a Precedent where the Government will able to hack anyone phone, Samsung, whatever. For you folks who don't know what the heck Precedent is, Precedent is a court ruling that if upheld can be use again in a future case. So let say, somebody with a Samsung phone did a terrorist act. The Government will have the ability to hack anyone's with Samsung phone if for whatever reason they think they might be connected to such crime. But in reality, who really believes they are going to stop their once they have the ability to do so. What Snowden is talking about is coming into fruition.

Might be a bit of a reach. They got a court order here. So the government would have to petition a court for a court order and lay out its probable cause and justification. With a court order, the government can already knock down your doors and search and seize whatever the hell it wants. Why is a phone so special.

If Apple created a patch to unlock an iPhone and the FBI got hold of it? It would be on the black market by Monday. Apple has unlocked iPhones before but never for the FBI. They would never need to ask again because they would copy that technology in a heartbeat.

Bingo, that's what all these sheeps don't get. Similar to the Patriot Act.

    Apple being bitches.

Should have simply worked with FBI and unlocked the one damn phone and given it to them. No need to give them any hack for the bloody thing.

I don't thin that's what the government is asking for. They want software.

They asked them to change one phone so the retry timeout and auto wipe features were disabled. In an old version of the operating system. If Apple cant make that happen and keep their source code secure then I'm a pregnant Indian woman.

They saw an opportunity to market themselves as the good guys and are exploiting it. That is all thats going on here.

Who's to say thats all it is. Theyve captured and killed many terrorists in the past Im sure many had phones on them and Im sure many had password locks on them why is it all of a sudden imperative that they get inside this particular phone.

There is more to the story than just Apple NOT cooperating with the Feds. Much bigger story. The story that is out is very minor in the big scheme of things.

You guys don't realize that bypassing the remote wipe feature for so many incorrect passwords basically destroys the security on all devices right? Password cracking is way too easy to do that. Apple should stand firm.

And I think Apple is doing the right thing to oppose, but some of the hysteria is a bit over the top.

Apple is protecting their patents. The moment they unlock the phone for the FBI hackers will sell it to the Chinese. It's a business decision. Has nothing to do with privacy.

Ever see the movie "Sneakers"? It was a poorly made flick in the 80's starring Robert Redford about a bunch of hackers that stumble upon a device that was the ultimate decoder. It could decode anything, air traffic control, federal reserve, you name it and it could hack into it. The Feds, Russians, organized crime, terrorists, they all wanted this because they could change names on deeds, transfer billions, eliminate all records of ownership. Ben Kingsley's character had a great line, "Its not about who controls the gold anymore, its about who controls the information"
Anyway that's kind of what this is all about really. If the FBI had a way to hack into the world's #1 electronic device then EVERYONE'S security is at risk. Politicians, world leaders, judges, CEO's, anyone who owns an iPhone or Apple device can be taken advantage of, blackmailed, all secrets gone. Its about who controls the information. Think people will kill for this power?

DOJ and Apple came to a compromise. DOJ says Apple can keep or destroy the special software after the phone is unlocked.

There's probably more to the story than we know......but for now I can't help but to think that Apple sided with that demonic-looking ugly Muslim woman and her sucker-of-a-husband who killed tens of disabled people and their caretakers at a Christmas party. Fck them and Fck Apple!! I'll buy a Dell.

After Apple said "Fuk you" to the FBI when they asked for help to unlock the iPhone, Apple now wants the feds to tell them how they hacked the phone.

The reason the government doesn't reveal the help they got to crack the iPhone is because they paid big money to Russian hackers to crack it open.

FBI actually went a Israeli firm to get it cracked.

The phone that was cracked was using a outdated OS anyway. It was a iphone 4 for crying out loud
