That may be the case where baseball is concerned. As for soccer , the only weather allowed to effect a WC game is the threat of lightning. No rain or lightning on the horizon.

You can check under the FIFA rules and regulations regarding the decision to close the roof. Such decision can only be made by the FIFA Match Commisioner.

Im a huge fan of Modric , who is in the " Legend " status as a World class International. I also enjoyed watching Perisic and Kovacic alongside him in their midfield for many years. The problem in the year 2026 is the ages of 40 , 37 and 34 respectively. They will face , especially down their older left flank , Englands combo of Gordon ( 25 ) , Bellingham ( 22 ) , Saka ( 24 ) and Rice ( 27 ). The weather in Arlington , Texas during the game is a scorching 33c/ 94f , and not even 2 water breaks will bring you 90+ minutes of youth. I really see England's pace, against Croatia's older left flank , a big advantage.

Apparently the roof was closed for the Netherlands / Japan match , so in all likelihood the Field Commisioner has made that decision already. Regardless of the heat or AC , my comment referred to the ages of 34, 37 and 40 being an issue in regards to pace. I still stand by that statement and believe Croatia's left flank will be exposed today.

My wager @ 1.83 yesterday is now offered at 1.75 ( Betano ) and 1.67 elsewhere. Who knows , maybe it was a smart bet ? Somebody else seems to think so
