FIFA , that controlled by elites, decides the WC winner, for example, Ronaldo was food poisoned in 1998 wc final, at least, that was said that time. My question is that how could they decide the wc finalists for 2026 in kids' book released few months ago, having Arentina and Spain and scoring goal by #7 player?

Hey, Pack. My observations:

1) World Cup is a short-run string of results. People tend to over-react to small sample spaces.

2) Spain has set the bar for consistent quality. That said, people would rate FRA as best if you go back two games.

3) England really did have a good tournament. They only did better at World Cup in 1966. The win vs MEX was impressive, most teams lose there (or go to Extra Time). Tuchel does merit some criticism for the late fold vs ARG. Maybe the correct mindset was to try to win 2-1 there (after the 1st goal).

I hope Tuchel has a strategy for Spain, for all the song and dance about us not being up to the task in Euro 2024 we were still able to give them a decent run for their money. Is he going to pick Cole Palmer this time round? He was the one that scored are lone goal against them.

I think they did, truth is no matter what England does its never good enough mate. That game against Mexico was to be commended. A lot of teams would have broken down and given that game away.

I also liked the way the U.S. played. The Belgium game was a bit of a letdown, but overall they had a good tournament. They played some exciting football against Paraguay and looked really good against Bosnia in the knockouts. There's definitely something to build on.

Well have to see how they do in the Concacaf.
