I didn't mind this year's number of teams, but that is the absolute ceiling IMO, don't you think? Otherwise, you cheapen the tournament. I don't think having the Cook Islands or Tahiti in the tournament is a good thing. Plus it takes 3 years to qualify now as it is and that is part of the Word Cup.

remember going to the movies? You get your popcorn and drink, sit down just before the lights start to dim, then you watch a couple previews before the main feature. Gets you into movie-mode. First it was just a couple previews. Then it turned into several. Then it turned into several plus a few commercials. Then it was previews, commercials and don't forget to visit the snack bar and buy a Cineplex gift card for the one you love and don't forget to download the fukking app!! Then the guy in front of you won't stop talking and the floor is sticky. Why is the floor so sticky? doesn't anyone clean this place? Then you realize your seat doesn't even have a drink holder, so you have to put it between your legs or on the floor. Then after all that, the movie is in Spanish with English sub-titles! In other words, how much are you prepared to sit through before the main attraction?

Same goes for the World Cup. You don't want too many teams who have no chance to win. It just drags out the whole thing.

Yes, Dwight. Movies have become an ordeal. Not to mention INCREDIBLY expensive.

Yeah, if the movie time says Noon, you can easily show up at 12:20. All you missed is a sequence of awful movie previews.

I like a movie-theatre that is nice and clean. Modern theatres do have some nice seats. But I can scarcely remember the last movie that I thought was top quality.

1) As a veteran gamer, think about how tough it is to beat the #. Market-lines are mostly efficient. Even a strong opinion still has to beat The Vig.

2) These games can be viewed with clairvoyance after the game goes final. Think about the SPA/FRA game, most would have said that FRA was too strong to get beat. SPA wins, now everyone sees it with clarity.
...Funny thing: If they played again tomorrow, FRA might win.

I think more games is better but they need to bring in more euro teams.

You're so right Chuck. If you took a poll here prior to kickoff , I doubt you could find anyone predicting France to be shut out , me included.
Without a doubt , soccer is the toughest sport to wager on. The 3 way wagering , The dreaded Red card that has you playing the remainder of the game short a man. VAR that investigates each goal for a variety of infractions.....
Every game at this point can go in so many different ways.

Flashscore show the " Predicted lineup " as a 4-2-3-1 , with Kane as a lone striker and Bellingham between Saka and Gordon. The offset with Argentina has their familiar 4-1-3-2 with Messi and Alvarez up front and Fernandez between McCallister and de Paul. Pretty good looking match up imo ( Im not a big Madueke fan )

Yeah, I heard that. Comes down to a few things for me:
1) Players already play a super-long club season with all the Cups and Champ Lg.
2) Gulf in class when you get down to it. Final 8/4 are mostly predictable.
3) There were only a few true upsets in this year's tournament. Mostly fool's gold.

True enough a lot of it comes down to a handful of teams. Still though the WC is meant to be a prestigious tournament. Now their trying to jam every country they can.
