They can't hide the down swing any more. This has been going on for some time.

You can bet anywhere. Why go to some place where you have to pay $25 for a drink? lol

Lucky if a waitress even shows up when you gamble in Las Vegas. All the perks/deals are non existent. I live here and the changes these casinos have made to further their bottom line are all consumer negative.

Funny Stevens is saying this. I was at Circa on Saturday morning. Drove down there to give them my new ID so I can wager in the Mobile app, $20 to park at his property , give the guy behind the counter my new ID for their records, head home and guess what? They didn’t update my ID properly. Won’t go back down there and torch another $20 in a parking lot.

            1) Last trip, I did get a decent Room-rate. Tourism is down, Americans struggling.
            2) Still hate the Resort Fee. Mostly look for deals w/ zero Resort fee.
            3) Restaurant prices are ridiculously high.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

I was in Vegas last September and what a let down. $1,500/nt at the Venetian, horrible table odds, have to spend $400 in food and drinks to sit and watch football games. WTF? Overpriced, average restaurants, a shitty strip experience. Downtown is much livelier and down to earth. I can get cheaper at the Bunny Ranch if I want to get fukked. Too many other places to spend my money.

I've felt this way for around a decade now. I used to go to Vegas 4-6 times/year. Prices and greed starting getting out of hand around ten years ago(resort fees, parking fees, food and drink prices out of control etc). There is no value anymore in Vegas and I have only been 2-3 times the past decade. I do not appreciate being nickel and dimed for every little thing and gave them the middle finger awhile back and I just go to the local Indian casinos now.

Vegas can Kiss my backside with all the whining about lack of tourism as they did it to themselves. Remember years back when there was actual value with room rates, meals etc? They can continue circling down the drain for all I care until they make massive pricing changes and give customers some value.

They are going to have to pivot and start rolling out some deals to get people back out there. Eliminating resort and parking fees would be a good start along with lodging/food/gaming deals/comps.

Good insights. I plan on going back in December.

Will be looking for deals. Can sometimes find good deals at low tourist times.

Was looking into this. Not optimistic.

Sky-hi room-rates. And hidden cost in the Resort fees.

                                    Yep.
What goes up must come down, right?

                                    Let's use McDonald's, for example.
Up until a few years ago, Mickey D's sold a quarter-pounder with cheese for about $3.99, give or take.
Once the empty-suited upper management over there realized that Five Guys, In and Out, and other better hamburger joints were getting eight dollars and up for their burgers, McDonald's decided they could charge the same as well.

How'd that work out for them?
Not very well, Mickey D's bled money for a year or so; they had no choice but to come back to their value meals and such.

Point being, the consumers (us gamblers) will only take so much before saying "Enough already for f**k sake"

And it's just about at that point.

I think all the Californians ruined it. You said it best, nickel and dime for everything. The strip is a grift.

I don’t know who they’re catering to today. It’s certainly not gamblers. There used to be a good vibe walking the strip and enjoying the sights but they’ve made it impossible to really walk the strip anymore. Too many cross bridges, sidewalks, you can’t get anywhere on foot easily. What happened to all the single women? There used to be scores of women willing to talk and party. Now it’s mainly couples. The single scene sucks. It was always nice to see a lot of beautiful women. Now there’s a lot of skags. Hard pass.

I don't mind paying a bit extra on holiday and just enjoy it without counting every penny.

And I have always thought Vegas was big value compared to similar opulent hotels elsewhere.

But those resort fees just feel like a complete rort and being treated like a dumb bunny. Just say the real damn price up front ya shysters.

                                                      It's not just vegas.

I used to be able to get tons and tons of perks from casinos here in Ontario... Now I go and wager 100k in a couple hours and it's like pulling teeth to get a meal for free. Used to get limo service all the time it's like non existent now. Hotels I could stay weeks at a time... now they will give a 2 day stay (sometimes waiving resort fee sometimes not)

IMO the only.time it was worth going to Vegas to gamble was during the poker boom. It was the only place to find a nice mid size PLO game.

Any professional sports bettor always knew offshore was the place to bet not Vegas

You used to be able to get cheap food and drinks but not any more. I went to one of the big named chefs place, I can’t remember the name, Wolfgang’s, maybe Guy Fiouri maybe Emerills. Party of 5… $2,500. And the food was very average, Joes seafood in Ceasar’s Forum shoppes one evening… $1,000 for 4 people. Breakfast will cost you a couple hundred for a family. The best meal I had all week was a steak burger at Freddy’s fast food. I enjoyed going to different restaurants but it’s difficult getting into a lot of places. Just a hassle.

i just checked prices at the Venetian for September and their prices have definitely come down. Still very expensive certain nights but they will soon get the picture when people stop going. Vegas will have to work much harder to get my money.

When I was in my 20s and 30s, I used to fly out from JFK to McCarron once a year, sometimes twice.
The first time I flew out to Vegas was when I was 22; the Rio had just opened about a year and a half before.

I used to get comped all the time in the '90s; most of the joints on Freemont had loose cigarettes for the smokers on the 21 tables.
No more, I haven't flown out just to gamble anymore, I can get a blackjack game here in Connecticut that pays me 3:2 on 21, not 6:5

I still get out to LV, but only for a show I want to see or a poker tournament...
Last time I was in LV three years ago, everything was off the strip.
I stayed at Sam's Town, where the Killers played two nights.
I played poker at Orleans; their poker room is huge, and they spread mixed games like Omaha hi-lo.
Five days, I wasn't on the Blvd. once.

I had a blast, Sam's Town rooms are nice and comfortable.
Orleans is where I like to play poker, off the strip.
There's still value there; there used to be a lot of value on Freemont, but that's pretty much gone, too.

Las Vegas lost guys like me from the East Coast; we don't need it any longer.
