#37I couldn't believe that the Yanks came back in that game last night. I'd love to see Judge smack at least 60 this year.Comment -

#38He really has not played a lot
A few good years
Would never give him 10 year deal flat out dumb
95% hitter 34 and up not that productive due to injury and slower bat speed

#39he was a late bloomer. 25 when he won rookie of the year.
as a yankees fan i would give him 4-5 years with a very high salary. even if years 4 and 5 are good and not great so be it. you hope you have a title to show for it. giving him the 10 he wants now is nuts.Comment -

#42Judge is hitting out of shoes right now, 27 HR in 70 games, is on pace for 62 HR's.
Do we see a new NYY single season HR record?

That said, I was 7 years old and it was that and the love of baseball that propelled me into a kid that played or practiced it year round while living in Wash D.C.Comment -

Still is to me.
Thing is baseball is a thinking man's game and today's kids don't have an attention span longer than a common fruit fly and don't like to think.Comment -

#47I will try to refigure out how to add a couple of pics here. I know, I'm old. I have a Mantle/Maris signed photo of them standing together at a spring training facility. Also have the set of 64 Topps cards framed. Both hang in my office. I think you will enjoy it.

#53Much respect for Roger Maris, a very good player in his own right, to say the least. Mickey Mantle however, is one of the best to have played the game. His .298 lifetime BA should not detract from his career accomplishments, as he played the last several seasons banged up. In fact, serious knee injuries plagued him constantly but did not prevent him from the HOF.
As far as the 1961 season, Mantle developed a boil/cyst(?), on his back or arm down the stretch and he played 153 games as opposed to Maris's 161. Not suggesting he would have beat Maris but the final tally might have been closer. As a side note both he and Maris were friends and roommates on the road.
I know you're an avid baseball fan Nash, much younger than me but I can recall that '61 season as I was 10 years old. Was an exciting summer for a baseball loving kid. Your Navy Dad I believe, would back me up regarding Mantle's stellar career even if he may be a Red Sox fan?Last edited by Dr. Fager; 06-26-22, 06:27 PM.Comment -

#55That's always a big "if" though. Plus the reason Judge's current HR pace is so impressive is the very same reason he's not likely to duplicate it for the rest of the year. He's just hitting well above his average right now. He's bound to have at least a small slump at some point, and he might miss some games. Taking all factors into account, it's very unlikely he breaks itComment -
