#37That's because everyone is resting for the playoffs and there's no home court advantage so seeding is meaningless.Comment -

Lebron, michael, kobe, didn't matter where their team finished in the reg season, they were going to the finals.Comment -

#39Well the number one overall seed since 2000 has won 7 finals. They didn't even make the finals much other then those 7 wins. Seeding is overrated. Don't forget you said 80% of the time. Not even close.Comment -

#40Laker of course it matter where they finished most of the time they had HomeCourt advantage you can’t win as as 8th seed it’s extremely rare
It is very difficult winning games on the road and it takes a lot out of youComment -

Seeding does NOT matter when you have the best player or a top 2 or 3 player (lebron, michael, kobe) on your team but if you do not have one of these guys then seeding DOES matter. you need home court advantage if you don't have a legendary player in his prime in your starting 5.Comment -

in HOOPS the better team wins a best of 7 series almost always, barring injury or suspension.
home court teams win game 7's 80% of the time BTW. that is 4 out of 5 times so if it goes Seven games, it matters LOLComment -

#43Good point Laker but usually the top 2 or 3 teams in a conference are fairly equal. Usually 1 team is getting better with newer teammates, while another team is getting older. In the last 20 years the 2 seed made the Finals more than half the time at 11. The number one only made it 5. The Number 3 and number 5 only made it once and the number 4 made it twice. A lot had to do with a lot of teams creating their big 3 with the Pistons, Celtics and Heat. But I mentioned the Lebron factor because over a 12 year period, his teams were in the mix for first place in the conference. Lebron notoriously took games off and load managed. He could care less if they got the 1st or 2nd seed and normally shut it down at the end of seasons.Comment -

#44In the West, the number 1 seed made the Finals 10 out of the last 19 years. 7 times the number 2, and 2 times the number 3 made it. No teams below 3 mad the finals in the West.
Top teams with top stars were clearly the favorites. Spurs Lakers, Mavs and OKC were in the mix a lot. Then came the Warriors.Comment -

#46go back to 2000 for us and let us know how many times the #1 or #2 seed in either conference made the finals.

#51Which is why I'm very interested in this years playoffs. I really don't think home court will be much of a factor, even though some teams may have a lot of fans. I really would love to see the Warriors pull of the play in upset to kick things off.Comment -

- NOT having to travel to the other city means the home teams get to sleep in their own beds and comfort of their own homes
- shooting sight lines in arenas where home teams are used to the visuals of the arena and other nuances like this just mean more comfort by the home team.
trust me, if it goes to game 7 YOU WANT home court advantage.Comment -

you will probably tell us next how many sub 6 foot QB's have been all pros completely disregarding that 95% of them are 6'2" or taller.
80% of home teams in the NBA playoffs win game 7 straight up in history. look it up.Comment -

#69Macker and Shady to hell w/ the Cavs they are not even in the 'offs.
let's talk "sleepers" who are actually IN the 'offs.
in the west, The Clippers in the 4th slot, is this the year they make the WCF and The Finals to boot ??
who do you like in the East? Heat in the 5th spot won't sneak up on anyone this year.Comment -
