i have always wondered why as well. I think Clarke diidnt want to get the goalie cause he didnt want the media to say we were right if they won. I mean he picked up Beezer when he was done. Then they tried to win with Esche. So many guys its unreal. I think if they had a solid goalie they might have won 2-3 cups

Let me ask you a question Dave? What makes you think i dont follow hockey. Wasnt Dean Lombardi the man in San Jose at one time and put good young talent there yet they keep choking away. When the kings win anything(a division title even) let me know . I dont care how many young players he has brought in. The bottom line is that the kings turned to my team the flyers and have hextall and murray there doing all the work. Hextall is considered one of the best minds in the game. Sur ethe kings have some good young players but when you draft near the top every year you should have them . By the way the flyers (my team) dont draft too high but if you ask any hockey expert who is the best drafting team of the last 10-15 years they will tell you philly considering their position

If you KNOW hockey, but think that building a team around young talent is a waste of time, then I really don't know what else to say.

Do me a favor though and find me a Stanley Cup winner that didn't get the bulk of its contributions from players that they brought up through their system.
