A lot of sharp posters have come and gone at SBR over the years so it would not surprise me if guys like HALIFAX, MARC, MUDCAT, etc have been contacted by entities wishing to set up a sportsbetting operation in the USA.

Poster FISHHEAD has already been contacted by several prospective operators in IOWA and MONTANA, which is a wise move on their part IMO. FISHY has been a forum legend for decades and has been on both sides of the counter in his long gambling career. Nice to see that he's being recognized as an asset and as one of the sharpest minds to potentially spearhead a new sportsbook in this emerging industry.

Knowing FH as I do, I doubt he will leave the comforts of home in Vegas but time will tell!

    Congrats, FISHHEAD!

I would never want to be part of an organization that would want someone like me as a member.

Those prospective operators must be Hefty, Glad and Kirkland. They want to know which one of their garbage bags can handle the stress and rigors of a dumpster diver extraordinaire.

Gritter Fishhead was an oddsmakers years ago at The Stardust

Well he claims that, no idea if you lived there back then

I wasn't living in Vegas nor old enough to legally gamble when the Stardust was around.

Ducked in a few times with fake id when visiting town but that's it.

I'm guessing the Stardust crew are all either retired, working part time as a ticket writer or dead these days.

I disagree, its an opportunity for states to raise revenue - 70% of the states will have it. Most casual gambling will be through an app in a state. The BS with dealing with an illegal offshore is thankfully done.

States will not replace offshore for the same reason that local Las Vegans still bet offshore.

Yup. Too many guys can't post up real cash on demand. Plus, you can expect some of the initial start up costs and taxes to be passed on to the consumer with -115 or higher lines.

Which states get this up + running the soonest?

DE, NJ? Oregon had some sports-lotto, so I think they'll be up quickly, too.

There has to be a link btw sports-betting and horse-racing.

Would be a natural to open a sports-betting room in any major horse track? Could easily see that happening in KY, PA and WV.

People that are betting on credit are doing it now because they're determined to do it (it's not going to grow as substantially as you claim). Average Joe who wants to bet on the local NFL team on Sunday as he's buying a lottery ticket is not going to go offshore or use credit which is who this is going to bring in.

I'm pretty sure it won't be Kentucky since they are dead set against any gambling other that horse racing. I think it will happen in Indiana since they were one of the first to pass riverboat casinos.
