My hypothesis is it's now cascading (slow trickle to a waterfall) from the SEC announcing not too long ago they were going to crack down on ICOs raising capital by selling equity in their company by masking it as a token sale and people are getting out.

Depends how long the SEC cloud looms. Until they put out rules or a memo giving a clear position on what constitutes a token sale vs an equity sale, it'll likely keep dropping. Could go down to August levels if this drags on. Not an expert so I don't know what the bottom is, but that's my view.

Ya, one of Coinbase's little "scalps". Try Gemini instead - they don't do that. Took me about a month to get approved at Gemini and they only have a $500/day ACH but you can wire in any amount...

Coinbase robs you. Gemini is the way to go. Get use to it... study it. Great exchange.
