Hope I am not too late...just got started with some of the cheaper priced coins, Electroneum and DigiByte. This thread has been helpful because it gave me the opportunity to look up some of the coins that I was unfamiliar with and now I have a better overall idea of how the crypto coins work and which ones to look at buying next. I have to admit that diving into this can be very intimidating, but I have no intentions of sitting cageside watching people make money by taking chances. Thanks to all who have shared their ideas and info in this thread.

Is there a way to set it to convert the value of your portfolio in USD (or are we just going to have to guesstimate in our head)? Very nice to keep track, but I'd prefer to have it go one step further and give me the value relative to USD instead of Bitcoin.

I guess we have another training session I am in need of. Again, I have tried as much as I think I can do before asking for help. I am trying to set a limit sell on VEN and of course overnight it dipped to that point, but I couldn't do anything.

So here's what I have done. I'm on binance and I go to the exchange tab and I go to STOP-LIMIT. There's STOP and LIMIT and I have to fill in both sections with an amount in BTC. When I do that, I guess here is when I get tripped up.

What am I supposed to type in there? The LIMIT amount says OK and then it says please enter a valid amount for the STOP. I tried the help tab, but it didn't help me haha.

I know you experts can help me here. I'll keep riding VEN through this slump, but tried to get out at 1.50 thinking this dip was about to happen, but now it's $1.37, so I'll just ride it out and hope I can set a limit buy on this and maximize and make the best out of this.

Appreciate the help as other gentleman, great thread here

Never really use binance, because bittrex much better imo. However, I did for the contest, but I think people might overrate how much rich dudes really care about that contest. But most importantly, it's counting buys and SELLS, so no real guarantee it just shoots into the air, and binance doesn't care, they're making their cut on every transacation.

Lastly the contest is about 14 seconds old, so not the best gage of success yet

First off, VEN back to $1.55 so don't be so quick to sell

Anyway, with a stop limit you are setting a price at which to sell but also a limit to keep from selling too low. Basically, the stop price is the price the triggers the sell, in your case $1.50. The limit is the minimum price you're willing to accept (helps mitigate big losses in a fast moving market, i.e. a flash crash). Anything below that limit price and no sell.

Example: Stop price 1.50, limit price 1.40. Price hits 1.50, becomes a limit order. Anything above 1.40 is a go, price drops below 1.40 no go. It's possible in a fast moving market the order doesn't get filled, but in that case you probably just want to hold anyway (unless you're looking to cash out entirely). Here's a link that may help:

Just do a limit order. If the price reaches that number it will sell/buy. Done deal.

has anyone had a problem with kracken? i made money on lite coin and looking for an exchange to buy some beginners. the reviews I seen on kraken aren't good.

Kracken is awful. Didn't used to be. But now their site errors and has time outs constantly. Very annoying and difficult to use.

still just wondering where the actual value is in some of these Alts other than speculation that they will be accepted currency in a few years at least to the extent that Bitcoin is used/accepted now.

Shouldn't it not leave until it hits that $1.20 mark if it ever drops that low?

Look at it like SBR Sportsbook. If you have 100 pts and bet 60, your balance will show as 100 but only 40 available. The 60 is still yours until you cancel or the bet takes place. You still have your full shares until you cancel the order or it plays out.
