in Jr high I competed in a summer YMCA greco roman wrestling tourney Pa

in the semi's I beat a kid named Cary Kolat, the following summer I won the championship in my weight class and he won in the weight class below me. Never met him in free style

two years later at High School I had to decide to chose Wrestling or Hoops as my winter sport I picked Hoops despite being better at wrestling.

kept reading about that Cary kid in wrestling in Pa. He later ended up becoming an NCAA National Champion.

and i'm here posting about it.

That's actually pretty fkn cool...

I went to a Iowa summer wrestling camp when I was a Jr. in HS. They had a tourny at the end of the camp at which point the winner gets to wrestle the incoming freshman for Iowa's wrestling team. I thought the idea was actually pretty cool.

Anyway, it was my turn to wrestle, so I was down like 7-4 to the two time state champ and while he was pushing, I threw him on his back. Everyone went crazy. It ended up getting me an offer to come wrestle there, but I didn't have any desire to wrestle in college.

This was 11-12 years ago, so Iowa wasn't as good as they are now, but its one moment I won't forget.

Fire, I'm lookin fwd to it. Only thing I don't like is that it always lines up w/ opening wkend of NCAA basketball.

Suriano the story for sure. Does Cael really think this guy can go? Even if he gets 2 wins, it's huge.

I agree, every point will count and if Suriano can get any points it could be the difference in a Nat. championship.

Cael thought he was going to be ready for the big ten champ. I'm sure he will wrestle, but how well is the ankle and if he can get any victory is a different question.

I agree, the way he does it is just as impressive as well. Medbery from Wis. was undefeated and Snyder just took him down and let him up pretty easily. His mat awareness is also ungodly.

I think that ankle injury this year will be the end of him. All of the wrestlers that make it there can wrestle, and if he cannot push off on the ankle, I don't think he will win a match. The lower weight brackets are just too competitive.

he was resting a previous injury, all he had to do was start the match to qualify for the ncaa's so there was no point in trying

he'll get a few wins at minimum
