in Jr high I competed in a summer YMCA greco roman wrestling tourney Pa

in the semi's I beat a kid named Cary Kolat, the following summer I won the championship in my weight class and he won in the weight class below me. Never met him in free style

two years later at High School I had to decide to chose Wrestling or Hoops as my winter sport I picked Hoops despite being better at wrestling.


kept reading about that Cary kid in wrestling in Pa. He later ended up becoming an NCAA National Champion.

and i'm here posting about it.

That is an awesome story. Kolat is the man, he has a great instructive YouTube channel.

My eleven year old placed 8th in our Folkstyle state finals this past weekend despite losing his first match and forfeiting the last two due to a minor injury. 39 man bracket too.

Not that you guys asked about that but I am pretty proud. Me and my boy will be watching this weekend.

My 2-cents, I don't like the 4-pt near fall. 4-pt near fall used to be reserved for near-fall where u added a point if opponent bailed out w/ injury.

Don't like the new rule. Closer to freestyle where u can end the match w/ a couple turns.

I actually agree with you, I liked the old rules better. It doesn't seem right to me that someone can get turned without even being close to pinned and their opponent get 4 pts.

On the other hand, if you are on your back and about to get pinned I could see a 4 pts awarded, but only if the threat of pinned is there.
