#108There is tier of investment and risk-taking investment. Betting sports to some if they are semi-successful or successful is an investment too. I look at sports betting as an investment. I am predicting an outcome of a game, similar but different in ways of the stock market. However, Stock market is a rich man investment. You need a lot to protect yourself and to become rich off of it. It you buy apple or google shares... Sure if you are a multimillionare, youll be profitable. But if you just have like 10-50k. its not that good of a return. Plus if you go to work and or have mortages and stuff. You can write off losses. If you play your cards right. I honestly have less than 3k invested in stock. I'm just having a feel and learning from it.Originally posted by ByeSheaThe plan is to get rich betting sports? Interesting.Comment -

#118I turn 59 in December and I'm retiring. I told my wife she could retire at 58 and she did. All this hasn't happened by accident. We planned, we saved, we invested wisely. And in seven months, I'll get out of bed every day at noon if that's what I want to do. #126my dumbass
yeah i know should have spread it out but thought oil can't keep going up at this rate every day this week drip has to go up as the oil goes back down, but it keeps steamrolling towards 50 and beyond not sure if it's going to come back down as my dumbass didn't check the 15 year charts to see oil has been between $50-$150 all the time the last 15 years and not sure i want to wait 15 years for a 4 k investment i'll wait til next week and if oil keeps skyrocketing i'll take my 1-1.5k loss and lick my wounds and probably stay out of the water for awhile. In 07-08 turned a 10k investment into 18k then when the crash occured pulled out with only 3k left had a diverse portfolio just some of it went to 0 bear stearns crocs and couple others I owned in the market haven't touched the market since til last few weeks ago as only have 4k to play with hard to spread that out unless I do cheap stocks. Seems like everything I buy in the market tanks as soon as I find an entry point terrible terrible luck here. Not much better with sports made 30k in one week 20 years ago and lost probably 40k the past 20 year. 7-8k stock loss and 10k sports loss i'm not very good at predicting.Comment -

#127Yea man trust me I get that feeling... It is like everything you touch turns to shit... The two stocks that have just kicked my ass this week is Drip and GASX.... But thank god for gold...Also dust is going to do a 10x reverse split I believe today. Texas the hardest thing for me is cutting my losses. I always have to remind myself never marry yourself to one stock.Originally posted by texasfellowyeah i know should have spread it out but thought oil can't keep going up at this rate every day this week drip has to go up as the oil goes back down, but it keeps steamrolling towards 50 and beyond not sure if it's going to come back down as my dumbass didn't check the 15 year charts to see oil has been between $50-$150 all the time the last 15 years and not sure i want to wait 15 years for a 4 k investment i'll wait til next week and if oil keeps skyrocketing i'll take my 1-1.5k loss and lick my wounds and probably stay out of the water for awhile. #129yeah can't figure anything out
oil and energy keep soaring even on a down day and with bad earning coming this week don't get it all signs show to a oil and energy pullback with this huge rally all energy and oil stock made almost 10-20% gain in a week and not showing any signs of slowing down on a down day am shaking in my boots xop is a world beater going from 27-37.3 in a few weeks leaving me in the dust and keeps going higher man etf's are super dangerous i'm just praying for cop, xom, cvx and energy and other oil to please stop lying and show where they really stand and let the bears come back some this is nuts.Comment -

#130Finally getting some of my money back in oil and gas
Got beat the FUKK down over the last few years
Made a ton of money in Sand Ridge, CHK and DVN
Lost a ton of money in Sand Ridge, CHK and DVN
Rigged game. There are algorithms we're competing against, guys that have doctorates in mathetmatics, companies spending billions of dollars so they shave a tenth of a second off of data transfer time, and hedge fund guys with Billions, and GS with Trillions manipulating the market. Then when the housing market busts because of the little games the guys play, where do you think the $5,000,000,000,000 came from????? It came from our pensions, our 401k's, our retirement and savings, our taxes.......
After I cash out of CHK and DVN, I'm done with it. I can keep my money liquid and make better returns anyways.Comment -

#133Also, lots of limited partnerships in energy paying huge divs, not sustainable and a nightmare come tax time since you are a partner. Bkep earns 60 cents a share and pays out 60, unless oil spikes which it won't, it's not a good bet. Reits are a better risk, even then I'd stay away from residential and look at companies like stwd, and even then I would diversify between 2 or 3.
Keeping my eye on msft, looking for a snowball like last year that dropped it down to 40. Gotta be quick tho.Comment -

#134full on rigged krakken
I totally agree full on rigged big time dow getting hammered, but oil is a run away freight train. Go bear on oil you get murdered like myself. I'm probably out tomorrow and take a hard beating on my loss. XOP is unstoppable and see it hitting 40 soon as if market goes up, down or sideways now oil is going to kill it. Bears can't win oil soon to be above 50 and doubt it's coming down much for a long time. Thought we see a drip on the gains it made and make a quick buck and get out fast. Not going to happen rigged big time Xop hits next week just hope and pray for a slight pull back on xom and cvx ER tomorrow this oil train is not stopping if you jump on drip right now you might as well try dust and be bear on gold lmao both are not to be messed with. I poked the bear while he was sleeping and he has woke the hell up and gold and oil are literally on fire i'm out with my tail between my legs after a good beating.Comment -

#139Well it could have went a few ways with FB, the stock was priced with the assumption of a very good earnings report, the gamble was on it coming back not good or just merely meeting their earnings which would have been a letdown. Thankfully what happened was an excellent earnings report and the stock jumped quite a bit. Tech is getting hammered of late and FB I felt was being unfairly lumped in with the other tech stocks and their recent drop was not really justified. Options can be risky but I felt this was low risk, you really got to pick your spots. If things went south I'd be out the cost of the options which while I don't want to lose 1700 bucks, they are still worth something to somebody and this is fb we're talking about, not some upstart.Comment -
