I like WNR, solid div and earnings, up until it's last report was vastly undervalued. Still a decent buy and hold for 8-12 months. I was sitting on 500 shares forever watching it hover around it's low at 19 bucks for no good reason while still dishing out a 6.3% div. Gas & oil isn't your think pharm company BMY just took a hit from a bad trial of a new cancer drug. Dropped it 15 bucks, was an aggressive trial and they tried to hit a home run and missed, still they could have hit an easy double with it and the stock would have remained high. Down to 60, might go more but it might be at or near it's bottom. Still a great company, solid earner, and they'll regroup from the failed trial and climb back up. Little rich for me but I jumped on board at 60 for what I could afford in my IRA, which wasn't much... but Im excited about it.
But yeah, much like gambling boards, the stock message boards are a cesspool of morons and degenerates. Half of them are full of shit, the other half are retarded. I like seeking alpha, all the other rags and talking heads have an agenda and I couldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. If you want to have a nice, safe, easy return for 12 months you can put your $ in a monthly div stock like ETO. better return than your bank and the solid 1% return on some online accounts have recently dropped, including the one I use from 1% to .85%... so something like that is starting to interest me more, taxes be damned.Comment -

I am long on ete,etp and sxcp. their dividends are unbelievable. Plus kelcy warren is going to make sure that he is going to take care of these because he has a shitload of stock. Believe it or not I sold when it fell to 8 bought back at 12. It is 17.32 as we speak and it pays a dividend.285 dividend every quarter.Bought sxcp at 7.72 and now it is at 13.80 wih a dividend each quarter of .595. I have a shit load of ctix in pharmacy . they have 3 drugs that should come to the market in next 9 months. I bought for 1.42 so i am down but keep adding. If this cancer drug kevetrin does what they think it does it could be bought by pfizer. Also just bought a penny stock in gevo at .70 and after the q10 the shit went to sub .50. jjgold, I've never been buried. Stick to good companies, it's really, really hard to get buried. Even if you get stuck with a bad quarter, just means you've got your money tied up longer than you want... and in my case I'm usually earning a div anyway so whatever. It's not always about capital gains.
As far as the pharm companies like ctix... you can really hit home runs with them, you can also run in circles for a long time going nowhere. Tons of small developmental pharm stocks like this, they have to keep selling shares to pay for research and trials, which takes years, then have setbacks and have to go backwards, then they need reverse splits because the stock price drops so low... then sell more stock at the 'higher' price, meanwhile you are left with a fraction of your shares at a fraction of the price. And this is not a lone example, a lot of them do it.
I bought a bunch of shares of chk when it was around 2.00. There are companies out there you can buy a few thousand shares of and feel like king shit if things go well. chk is really my only success story like that, and it was a decent company before that CEO dude got in trouble and ended up killing himself by driving his truck into a bridge. They're doing the right things and climbing out of the hole, despite shitty earnings, there is light at the end of the tunnel and that stock is around 6.40 now. Of course I dont see any of those $ if I don't sell... sometimes you gotta just take the win and move on and try to not be greedy.Comment -

WNR reached 29.00 a few times recently, I was on it for 500 shares in July at near 19... that's 5k return in 3 months... Solid, profitable company who fell out of favor because of the hostile takeover of NTI? Shouldn't effect the stock price, but these things do, doesn't make them a bad company and less profitable...but the stock still drops. Fine by me, I'll buy it at a discount. I do believe a few posts up I told people to get on it at 24 because it wasn't done moving, Im sure nobody did. That was free money.
I just pulled 15k out of my 1% savings account because they dropped it to .85 and it pissed me off, picked up 100 shares of FB at 128. Holding it for the split, should end up with 300 shares... same value. That cheaper share price should (hopefully) drive up the price on it. Either way I figured it's better than my .85 a month from the online savings account that keeps lowering it's return. It's in a non-retirement account so I'm holding it long term.
I've been playing with AYR, good company... hits 22.00 and drops to 19 or so, been buying and selling that for a few months now in between divs. Probably been doing it for 6 months, it's on it's way back up if anyone wants $.
Market has been great for me this year, only dog is BMY as it dropped another 5.00 more than my buy price at 60. I did say in my previous post it could drop some more. That's ok, it'll get back into the 70's within the year. Think it got above 56 today. Only in it for 20 shares so I'm not in very deep.

Sept is usually a shit month for stocks. I found it to be quite neutral. Was searching for an email in gmail and came across an email from 6/5/12 with one of my buddies who hated FB was happy it was at 25.87 and my reply was, 'Must be some value, though?' and he brought up SIRI and I just ignored him but satellite radio and social media, two completely different beasts. He's an idiot and I'm really late to the party. I remember at the time myspace was too fresh in my mind so I didn't give it much thought, but Zuckerberg is a lot more of an entrepreneur than Tom from Myspace ever was. Tom sold his shit and retired, Mark created an empire.
Twitter was never run very well, but it's too popular to fail. They'll sell it and someone will figure it out. I know they've already hosted an NFL game and I know they are in talks with the Pac 12 network since they all work in the same building. I think a marriage between twitter and live sports is perfect, if they can only figure out how to make it fun. They are competing with some very big tvs mounted on walls. I've also noticed a lot more ads on twitter recently, Im curious to see their next earnings report. Been wanting to buy a 100 in the high teens for a while now and it's recent jump had me kicking myself for not pulling the trigger. Still some value at 23 I think, although it might fall a bit so I might wait, people excited it's finally going to sell.
