#4414"Many of those same overpaid, underperforming tax-exempt sinecure-holders are now demanding that Trump be stopped. Why? Because, as his critics have noted in a rising chorus of hysteria, Trump represents “an existential threat to conservatism.”
"Let that sink in. Conservative voters are being scolded for supporting a candidate they consider conservative because it would be bad for conservatism? And by the way, the people doing the scolding? They’re the ones who’ve been advocating for open borders, and nation-building in countries whose populations hate us, and trade deals that eliminated jobs while enriching their donors, all while implicitly mocking the base for its worries about abortion and gay marriage and the pace of demographic change. Now they’re telling their voters to shut up and obey, and if they don’t, they’re liberal.
***
"On immigration policy, party elders were caught completely by surprise. Even canny operators like Ted Cruz didn’t appreciate the depth of voter anger on the subject. And why would they? If you live in an affluent ZIP code, it’s hard to see a downside to mass low-wage immigration. Your kids don’t go to public school. You don’t take the bus or use the emergency room for health care. No immigrant is competing for your job. (The day Hondurans start getting hired as green energy lobbyists is the day my neighbors become nativists.) Plus, you get cheap servants, and get to feel welcoming and virtuous while paying them less per hour than your kids make at a summer job on Nantucket. It’s all good.
Donald Trump Is Shocking, Vulgar and Right
And, my dear fellow Republicans, he's all your fault.

#4421What I find amazing is how Donald Trump's supposed appeal is that he will stand up to the special interests. That he doesn't play the "bought and paid for" game. That sounds nice until you sit back and consider that he has spent his whole adult life buying and selling politicians. He was his own personal "special interest." He gave money in return for special favors. He played that game more and better than most anyone else. And until recently, he openly bragged about it (I notice he stopped talking about this awhile back). These are the circles Trump has been in and the game he has played his whole life. And now we should expect that he will shut it all down? LMAO give me a flippin break!Comment -

#4425Actually, why don't we just cut the nonsense and elect a real mobster?
Come on, you know....they will GET. SHIT. DONE. Nobody will fukkin mess wit em. He'll make the best damn deals and nobody will cross him. He'll have the best people around him too. He's got a guy for everything, come on. We won't take crap from noooobody.
Of course the mobster has no principled stands other than not allowing himself to be personally crossed. And if you cross him he will out a hit out on you. And your family. And friends. In this arena, the 'hit' comes in the form of twitter rants, name-calling and personal insults.Last edited by d2bets; 01-30-16, 02:11 AM.Comment -

#4426Basically, Donald Trump is a mobster. And in that sense, I guess I get that some dudes want to elect a mobster. We fukkin respect those guys. They don't take crap from nooooobody and they get shit done.
Of course, they ultimately get themselves and/or a lot of people around them killed or arrested and the empire falls down, but they feel big and fukkin powerful along the way.
Some may disagree, but I don't think electing a mobster is the best direction for the country. At least Cruz is sort of a constitutional mobster. Christie is the kindler, gentler, less threatening mobster. Go figure that! What's a faulty bridge here and there between friends.Comment -

He said just enough to get everyone interested and now they are forgetting. This activity could be a concern as those who "know the game" usually play it well.

You bolded the some may disagree portion. You then sad "yeah only 'some.'" This clearly implies that your dispute is with using the word "some" in the context of disagreeing over whether electing a mobster is the best direction for the country. I naturally took that to mean that you believe that more than some would disagree that electing a mobster a bad thing.Comment -

#4440no and not everyone is. The country is however. Obama will add 11 trillion addition debt by the time he finally leaves. That, along with record number out of the workforce, record number on food stamps, millions more living in poverty isn't good is it?Comment -

#4441I don't really agree with your language here. When you say he " added ", you are trying to give the impression that there is no interest involved. It is also a misleading way to present the argument that he spent wastefully. Over the past 7 years the 1% padded their pockets nicely. Yes, this was done under the Obama administration. But the 1% were already rich under the Bush Jr administration and the previous administrations.
With each passing day in this corporate driven political system, I'm surprised that anyone who considers themselves middle class can say they are better off.Comment -

"they 1% were already rich under bush jr"
that is why the global wealth gap has grown to widest margin under Obama. Use logic jay.Comment
