Cano didnt care about history, Cano didn't care about legacy!
Another retarded contract.
Because all these guys (ARod, Pujols, Ryan Howard) get better in their late 30s.

Jesus Christ.
This is one of the dumbest contracts ever.
Seattle could have done a lot more with that money. This is why Seattle and the Angels will never be as good as teams like the Rays and Cardinals.
They have no concept of how to run a team.

The Yankees were smart here. You really think Cano is going to be hitting when he turns 37? 38? 40?
He's 31 years old for fuks sake. You want that contract?
Name me one player in the last 5 years that proved to be worth one of these giant 10 year deals? Pujols is already a fuking disaster 18 months into his Angels contract.
Ryan Howard is a mess.
ARod. Biggest disaster in sports contract history.

Cano's highest OPS season is .929. This guy is so overrated he's obscene. Even if he put up the same numbers the next 10 years as he has the past few it's still not worth it. And of course we know he won't even do that.

unreal.
as if they weren't bad enough already. they just buried their payroll for the future? am I missing something? where is Seattle getting all this money? do the plan on spending more to build around Robby? do they have nice prospects ready to go now?
or are they still rolling out the same starting pitching and line up + Cano? if so, yeah they got better but nothing dramatic, they will still be under .500 and nowhere close to making the play offs.
just another greedy GM trying to fill seats instead of trying to win.

not true man.
Don't you remember how well the Mariners played last season in the second half?
These boys can swing the sticks.
And they got a hell of a front end of the rotation.
if they get lucky with a couple of young arms from the farm system they may have something.
this may be the toughest division in baseball next season. Except for the lastros

Thank god the yanks didn't sign him. He does nothing when it matters.
Announcer- and cano hits a 3 run bomb. 9-1 yanks.
Announcer- and can hits a 2 run shot. Now yanks trail 5-3.

One of the smarter offseasons in recent memories by the Yankees as far as spending. They are filling their major holes with the Cano money instead of overpaying for Cano and then being left handcuffed to fill those other slots.
Jay-Z looks like an idiot/genius all at once. He gets his client paid ... to play on a loser. Sounds like Scott Boras, so I guess he's accomplished his sports mogul goal then. I think Seattle will be looking to dump that contract by the time Cano is 35 and they'll still be maybe the 3rd best team in that division if they are lucky.

I agree Cano is over rated, if he didn't play for the Yankees he would be considered an above average 2B like Ian Kinsler. But the Mariners have good young players. Pitching is solid with 2 top of the rotation guys. Seager is a good infielder, and Justin Smoak has potential(but hasn't shown it). Also a good young catcher Zunino. I don't like this contract though, but the Mariners can surprise some people, they were already on the rise. But come on... Angels and Mariners are terrible with contracts.

Cano didnt care about history, Cano didn't care about legacy!
I mean really, how much money do you need to play with a bottom-feeder? The Yankees are the most established franchise in sports in which he would've went down as one of the all-time greats. Sayonara and flop like Pujols did when he took the coin; we don't you!
Derek Jeter is a legend; he's beloved. That's the difference between a LEGENDARY star and a player that doesn't care about his legacy. I hope that this guy falls straight on his face.

While its a chit load of $$$, can you really blame him? The mariners do have some nice pieces in place, and you can't tell me anybody would have passed up on that kind of cha ching. Maybe he wanted out of NY too. Good move on his part.

yeah true. Except some of the richest people in the country didnt go to college.
College is a waste of time and money unless you are going to be a doctor or attorney.
but in Cano's case everybody in the hood wants a piece of his contract.
Hes not only supporting himself but every one of his cousins friends etc....
he is trying to make enough money that his kids , kids wont ever have to work
