College is a waste of time and money unless you are going to be a doctor or attorney.
but in Cano's case everybody in the hood wants a piece of his contract.
Hes not only supporting himself but every one of his cousins friends etc....
he is trying to make enough money that his kids , kids wont ever have to work

#41This was simple math for Cano and it should be. Seattle put 75 mill more on the table so basically 1/3 more than the Yanks. If you worked for a big company and a small company offered you 1/3 more a year over the next 10 years wouldnt you go???? Of course. I would in a heart beat. Baseball is dollars and cents now this isnt 1964 any more.Comment -

You do realize that in 2013, it's literally impossible to get a top paying job without a university degree? Employers and businesses don't even care about experience anymore, all the old timers with 30+ years of experience are getting kicked to the curb for the university graduates.
In the modern day, unless you have a relevant connection or start your own business, you will never obtain a job that pays well and will allow for further advancement.Comment -

#47The good about Cano
Has not missed a game since 2006
Since 2009 while not missing a game, his across the board numbers have remained very consistent.
Complete career MLB stats for the Atlanta Braves Second Baseman Robinson Cano on ESPN. Includes games played, hits and home runs per MLB season.
Solid defensive infielder
The bad about Cano
Awful in big games.
Post season numbers are terrible.
Even though deemed a smoother infielder, will not over extend himself, will not dive into the stands like a Jeter for a foul ball.
Will not flat out on a ground ball single up the middle.
Will piss off clubhouse sometimes by not running out routine ground balls, will concede that he will be thrown out at first.Comment -

#50Cano is just yet another overrated Yankee playing in a shoebox stadium who the Yanks know will only fade with his numbers over time because he's a Lazy Latino.
So many of them get the money then crumble.
Cano is overrated, doesn't give even close to 100%, terrible clubhouse guy, and I'm still in shock at this contract.
It will definitely go down as a FAR FAR worse contract than Pujols or A-roids contracts.
This guy will bat .270 with Seattle and hit about 15 hr's this year.
He's just an average to slightly above average player who got to play on a Yanks offense that is always surrounded with an above average lineup due to overspending, as well as a horribly built stadium to produce more hr's for the fans.Comment -

And also.........Jay-Z looks like a genius for his first contract.
He got a guy 100 mill more than he shoulda got.
The Yanks were never gonna give him anywhere close to 240.
And as a player you can't blame Cano for leaving. The Yanks are just a mediocre team now anyways. It's not like he's leaving a contender.
Their pitching staff is gonna be in the bottom tier of the league this year, and their offense won't be able to support it enough.Comment -

#60That's not totally true.Originally posted by jjgoldSeattle lucky to win 80 games with cano

Its a disgrace what Seattle did
Kyle Seagar at third is going to be a beast.
Smoak has power.
For the time being they still have Ibanez and Moralez.
They lost Ryan to the Yankees but the kid SS Brad Miller is legit, with power too.
Their infield now, with Cano, is actually pretty good.
Their ace is King, he's a Cy Young Award winner.
Backing King is Iwakuma, he's a beast, and will be a future Cy Young Award winner.
What they need is a bullpen and to sure up the OF
Mariners have pieces, they ain't winning shit this year, but they are not a team of nothings.
A disgrace is Houston, Mariners are trying to be players.Comment
