Can't speak for RR obviously, but for me personally this season is far far better than last season. Which is interesting, because I thought the shortened season last year would be an advantage, but it clearly wasn't (for me).

yeah it's a good year...last year was just too short, like Zizou mentioned. Every year is difficult to cap...the most important thing is to establish the winning momentum early, identify teams to stick with through the season. You can't cover every single team- it's just physically impossible....but you can pick 10-12 teams to follow closely and make your money off of them.

ML - moneyline...you're looking for the team to win the game (regulation time and overtime with shootout are included).
(1st 60min) minus 0.5 - you're betting on a team to win in regulation time - 3 periods...overtime and shootout are not included.

An example would be SJ Sharks vs LA Kings game ...Sharks won 4:3 in Overtime.
If you bet SJ Sharks ML - you won your bet
If you bet SJ Sharks (1st 60min) minus 0.5 - you lost your bet, because the game was tied 3-3 before it went to overtime.

Yeah, it's all based on my personal experience with following, watching and reading about certain NHL teams for a very long time...I'm talking over 15 years for some teams. Of course things change year after year and you have to adjust your betting style, switch a few teams that you wanna closely monitor through the year.
Don't get me wrong I do read about every single team - things like injury reports and who's running hot or cold must be read for every team...but closely follow/watch games for only about 12-14 teams.

yeah I don't follow basketball at all, but I hear ya...the way my betting process works is I get one of my teams and I ask myself can they win? If the answer is Yes, then I try to see what other angles besides ML I can hammer on this team. Can this team score more than 3? Can they win in regulation? Can they win by 2? Can the opposite team score more than 2 on them? Can they hit the total?
It's actually a pretty simple formula when you REALLY know the team you're betting on.
