I give the edge to Ruth, but it's closer than people think.
Gehrig played five less years.

My favorite fun fact is, in '27, Gehrig drove in 175 runs batting fourth behind Ruth hit third in the order.
Ruth hit 60 homers that season in front of Gehrigh, which means at least 60 times, and then some, Gehrig came up with no men on.

Like I said, Gehrig drove in 175 that season. Ruth *only drove in* 164.
They pretty much both played every game that season.

How is that even possible, driving in 175 with Ruth homering 60 times in front of you?
