I've always been treated well by cops. I would never run away, even if I had a dead fuk in my trunk.

You see some of these cowboys on the force these days?
Short sleeves rolled up, the arms three sizes to big for the shirt, the he-man macho buzz cut.........
There are two kinds of cops these days, the old timers marking time until they are pension eliglible, and the rookies that are juiced up to the beejesus, the cowboys straight out of the accademy.

The rookies mentality is "if we have to come out there, somebody is going to jail"

Best advice I ever got from a cop.

"If you're too stupid to hide the joint before I walk up to you - you deserve to go to jail and get your ass pounded for stupidity".

Think I was 13 or 14 at the time I got this epic advice. Remember every word, and have passed it down to whoever I can. You can substitute the joint with anything illegal.

I doubt a lawyer is going to get your money back. You were betting with a bookie and don't have W2, bank statement, video from the casino to prove you legally obtained that money. Funny how so many people call me stupid but when faced with this situation everyone of you would be out 15k while my money would be buried out in the woods 20-30 miles from my house.

My god you people act like the FED's don't win 99% of their cases and you will get a fair trial.

I am certain of one thing here.

If there is a fukkin clown smart enough to win that kinda jack and stupid enough to wrap it around his dikk and drive home he is a poster at this site.

Or one of many posters here.

And for those of you so inclined to display that level of stupidity I regret to tell you that 12 points a day ain't a fukkin scholarship.

Quit lyin to your folks about that and carry on.

Are you kidding? That lawyer getting paid is contingent on him getting that money back.

Ain't nothing stopping a lawyer from money. Not the law, not the cops, nothing.

BTW, it is as simple as someone you "know" simply vouching for it. Assuming you didn't fukk yourself by talking to the cops.

Cops put your money in a little plastic bag, hand you a receipt. The lawyers job is to cash in that receipt. Shit happens everyday, everywhere.

Cops get to keep the money if the dumbass is 1) too stupid to get it back 2) too scared to get it back.

On the way home you get pulled over in a traffic violation and the cop wants to search your car, as you get out he see's the bulge in your pants pocket and asks you to remove what is in it.

Personally I am making a run for it 100% of the time. Fuk my car and the things in it, not worth any wheres close to the money in my pocket. Most cops are in poor shape and wouldn't be able to catch you and even if they are in good enough shape they will never chance after you in a one on one situation. They always like it to be 4 to 1 or 5 to 1. So they won't pursue you until they have the right numbers giving you a big head start.

If your stupid enough to hand the money over here is what is going to happen:

#1 the cops going to say this is drug money
#2 you will spend more on lawyer fees than money lost trying to get it back
#3 you won't get a fair trail (did you not see the reports that government wins 99% of their cases)
#4 even if you can get it back (which you can't) it will be years and years
you have way too much free time on your hands pal.

But having 15,000 cash is a good problem to have.

Actually had something similar happen to me. I was by myself driving to Vegas from Lake Tahoe in a rental car and got pulled over. If you have ever made this drive or driven around in rural Nevada you know there is nothing around. No cell service, no radio signal, no cars for 15-30 minutes at a time. The landscape looks like something from the surface of Mars.

So I get pulled by two cops in an SUV and the one on the passenger side gets out, comes to the passenger side window and tells me I was speeding. He asks to see my license. I reach in my pocket and have to take out about $3500 I have for my poker bankroll to get to it. I don't think much about taking this out to get to my license, but I guess it looks funny to a cop. While I'm looking down fumbling for my license he says, "why do you have so much cash on you?"

Now this is a little bit different than the OP's scenario because I'm in a state where gambling is legal. That isn't my concern though. There is no one and nothing around for miles, and I have to decide if this cop wants an answer or wants some cash. Either option could be the wrong one. The officer isn't exactly bubbling with personality and he could just as easily "confiscate" my money as write me a ticket, or worse. I mean, what was I going to do?

I decide to give him the answer instead of a bribe and he says, "you have any drugs on you?" I calmly say, "No", but I don't like where this is headed. He doesn't seem to accept that answer and asks again. I tell him, "look you can search the car if you want to." By this time he's flipping through the rental papers and finds that I got a contract for unlimited driving in 4 states. He asks me, "Why would you need to drive around in 4 states if you were just playing poker?"

I have no idea why I agreed to this contract, the rental agent made it sound like a great deal so I agreed. Of course now I wish I hadn't. I explain to the officer this was just what the rental agent signed me up for, I don't know why I need 4 states either. Well he doesn't seem like this answer and goes back to his SUV for a very long 20 minutes.

During these 20 minutes I'm either nervously checking my rear view mirror or scanning the landscape for where my imminent burial may soon occur, all the while rerunning our conversation in my head and wondering what those 2 cops are deciding to do with me. The worst scenarios seem to be the first ones you think of way out here.

Finally he approaches the window and hands me a speeding ticket. He hesitates for a moment and asks, "Have you ever been on tv with the World Poker Tour or WSOP?" I take the ticket saying, "No I'm not that lucky" and drive away slowly.
you are a funny guy and good story teller.
