Got to buy some good speakers that arent too expensive for a normal sized room.

Watching Dark Night on Blu Ray with the shitty speakers on my LCD doesnt do it for me.

Al Sharpton is a good speaker..especially for "Dark Knights". Martin Luther King as well....but alas he has passed away.. In all seriousness, what type of reciever do you have?

Onkyo are good quality at a reasonable price. Got mine at Circuit City.
its been years since I bought them but I think I paid about $500-$600 for the surround sound set and a Sony reciever.

When I read the title thread I thought you were looking for motivational speakers and I was going to suggest Nicky Santoro or JJ Goldstein.

If you are plugging the speakers directly into your TV, you are not going to get optimal sound for your setup.

Gamer, a receiver, also known as a head unit, is something that "receives" the sound from all your various inputs (cable box, VCR, DVD, satellite radio), amplifies it in a very clean fashion, and splits the signal to the various speakers that you purchase in a way that recreates the natural acoustics present at the time of the recording.

Gamer, it's not that hard at all. You just have to examine the elements of the setup. You'd like bigger speakers for more sound. Those bigger speakers create the sound by charging very powerful magnets and getting them to vibrate rather quickly. Your TV is just sending out the audio signal, but certainly not with enough power to move those magnets, even when you crank the volume.

You have your TV/cable box send the audio to the receiver, in order for it to "turn up the volume" for you. Then the speakers you pick out plug into the receiver. Best Buy is a great place to do your shopping, that's where I got my setup. I recommend Yamaha as the receiver brand of choice for their longevity and ease of use. Here's the equivalent model that I use (I say equivalent because mine is an older model that operates at the same power):

Once you've got the receiver, it's just a matter of picking out a six speaker package and hooking everything together. Don't be intimidated, you'll experience such satisfaction when it's all working and you've got the ability to create more deciBels than your ears can tolerate.

Been using Klipsch 2.1 computer speakers linked to my PC and iPod dock for years. These things rock.
