You ask customer service at alot of books what the fees for using a **** debit card are and you draw a blank stare.I do suppose it has to do alot with your banking side as to what fees are applied.Just wondering if anyone here has ever been charged some outrageous cash advance fee of $10 plus a few percent for using their own checking debit card supplied with your money in the bank and not credit?

It's a % fat levy. Charged to fat guys who damage their branch locations through

    a) breaking their chairs
    b) damaging their foundation
    c) coughing and wheezing as they shuffle around the bank
    d) McDonald's grease left on pens, counters, etc.

I've had a few different bank check cards and none of them charged fees for anything. If you bounce a check you get charged a $30 fee but I've never heard of fees associated with just USING a debit card.

Well let me take that back. The way they make money with debit cards is that most people don't keep track of every transaction they make with a debit card like they do with checks. So if you go over the limit of funds you have in the bank with your debit card, you will get a $30 fee for every transaction made after all your funds were used up. That is why banks want you to use a debit card so bad.

I have a bank now that will not let my debit card process transactions if my bank account is going to be in the negative which is great.

If you don't have a bank like the above, the best thing to do is use a credit card and pay it off completely every month.

Or just keep up with all debit transactions carefully but most likely you will get lazy and forget. Its easy to roll up $300 in fees by bouncing transactions on your debit card. Its very frustrating too.

Actually its not that hard to do. If you are a person that uses debit card for every thing you buy you can spend the weekend eating out, eating ice cream, movies, little stuff, and if you have just forgotten that you are over the limit its a bad feeling. You think you know what your balance is but you forgot about the car being fixed 2 weeks ago or something. Just like going over your cell phone minutes.

It only took once for me. Since then I only use mostly cash and a small bit of credit just to keep my credit score up.
