Obama never said those people were lazy and didn't even deserve food. Mitt Romney has declared himself to be without the slightest bit of normal human empathy. Those are miles apart.
Obama was describing how some people, when they feel threatened or frustrated, retreat to their religion, and their "guns". They do so because those bring them comfort, and they provide some stability in what can be a difficult world.
But Obama never suggested that he was going to write off those people.
If you you read the entire context, he wanted to reach out to them.Comment -

Seriously though,
do you really not get this?
If not, you need to branch out more. Make friends with more business owners/fiscal conservatives. This is in no way a new concept by Romney. It might be flawed, it might be callous, it might be defeatist, but it ain't new. One of the main reasons GOP candidates often ignore the "black vote" is because they think it's going to be a waste of limited valuable time/resources during campaign season trying to convince a bunch of people having kids out of wedlock and living off gov't entitlements to believe in free-market capitalism/personal accountability. Personally I think this has been a huge mistake by the GOP, but that's how they see it. And that's all Romney was saying to that crowd in Philly. "I can't waste time worrying about them, they won't listen to me anyway, I'm here to help you and your businesses, because that's something I can actually do."
Really he was just being honest/candid about the limits of his power/authority/leadership abilities. As he stated, he didn't point it out elegantly, but that's all he was pointing out. Can't say that's all that sinister/malicious. Weak-minded maybe. But it ain't evil.No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.Comment -

This is gonna be along night for obama. Already talking the fair share and rich not paying more bullshit too. Guy is unreal.Comment -

#673Great debate. Obama came out swinging. Romney's biggest mistake, IMO, was asking Obama questions. Romney should have just made his points, and went on. Romney missed a major opportunity on the Libya issue. In the same breath, Romney got some great jabs in on Obama's record, and I thought he did great with the George Bush question. If it were graded on points, I would give Obama a slight edge, but overall I think it came out a draw.
So biased towards the right....unreal.Comment -

#675The bottom line is why can't people who live in $2 to $5 million mansions and can afford 6 Bentley's really need to go out and buy a 7th?
Instead of buying a 7th Bentley or a fourth summer home why not have that money go to so much more use?
It just shows how ugly humans can be when they have wealth and power.
Is that what America is really about?Comment -

#683We get it. There is mud slinging going on both sides of this election now. It's basically what politics has come down to. Very sad....but a product of the idiots who actually vote too and the machine that only lets two parties stand on it's feet and casts other parties away that actually can make a difference.Comment -

#690The rich themselves spending on their own personal materialistic goods DOES NOT make the economy go round. It's the MIDDLE CLASS doing this kind of spending that makes the economy jump start and healthy. It's just a sheer numbers game based on volume pal.
Clearly you don't get math.
Let me explain something to you,
10 years ago I had a friend who dropped out of college at UNC to move to the Outerbanks and weave hammocks. We never understood it. Thought he was throwing away his future. Well after a couple years of making hammocks he met a guy on his island who liked to build sailboats. Nothing big, small stuff. But after sitting down with my friend they decided to try a bigger project. They took out a loan and built a 30 foot cutter, which they then sold to a millionaire banker from New York. That millionaire banker loved the boat so much he told all his friends about it. 10 years later my friend employs over two dozen people who make between $35,000 and $300K a year building sailboats for clients all over the world. Two dozen people who ten years ago were out of work and struggling to feed themselves. Over the years his company has donated money to help build three new schools, a new football/soccer stadium, an added wing to the local hospital, and renovations/equipment for the local sheriff's department. And that's on top of all the money he gives to the fed/state gov. and local community in taxes.
Rich people's materialistic vanity can indeed make the economy go round. It has spurred medical innovation and is the reason why we have flatscreen plasma televisions. It also the reason why my friend is now a multi-millionaire himself and has helped his top designers/builders become members of the wealthiest 1%.
He's sure as shit helped improve the lives of those two dozen other individuals a shit load more than gov't assistance ever did. And he's improved the local schools/hospital/community far more than government could do on its own.No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.Comment -

I'm sure there are people living in the U.S. that have far less than you. What have you done to help them?
Your willingness to spend OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY does NOT make you a compassionate individual but it does make you a liberal democrat.
Before asking the wealthy to do without their 7th Bentley, step up to the plate and pony up some money YOURSELF to those less fortunate than you!!Comment -

#693None of what you right wing dicks say is gonna matter anyway. Early voting has already started and Obama is way out in front in Ohio. Most Americans have already made up their minds and a few "independent" douche bags aren't gonna change shit! Rush the big mouth asshole sunk the women vote for you and minorities are not voting for a greasy hair rich asshole who only serves to benefit other rich white folks with "magic underwear."
America has heard enough of Romney's redundant tired old stich full of bullshit lies and fuzzy math with no objective or plan, except to serve billionaire oil companies, kill tax credits for the poor and funding for education and learning programs like PBS, destroy what's left of the environment and shove the elderly out like fuk'in garbage with a health care voucher!
You know something, my kids and I grew up watching Sesame Street. It is by far one of the best early learning programs for young children out there today and always has been. Not to mention PBS has some of the better programs on tv among all the garbage on television! Who in their deranged mind, decides our children don't matter and a great program that's been part of America for over 40 years and broadcasts in over 120 countries, now has to be cut to save money for rich assholes who wont pay their fair share? An ignorant out of touch with reality Mormon fuk head! That's who!
The only way we'll ever get back to being the strong country we once were, is by making the sacrifices necessary to help everybody, not just the privileged few with huge bank accounts and 401k's. If you have any sort of compassion and believe America can be great for everyone, why not make that happen? Stop supporting rich politicians who could give a rat's ass about you because you're not in their circle and you never will be. Vote for the man who actually truthfully does what he speaks of. Vote for the man who actually found and killed bin laden's ass and dumped his worthless corpse in the ocean! Vote for the man who is still cleaning up Bush's mess and kept his promise to end the wars and bring our troops home. Vote for the man who will do the right thing for all Americans and that man is President Obama.Comment -

#696Whoever wins needs to have full support from both parties to get us back in the right direction. The money spent on campaigns is sickening. Obama shouldn't be stumping the nation. He should be working. Both guys are unqualified to run our nation but whoever wins deserves our blessing to straighten the ship.Comment -
