I can't say I've seen a major talking point backfire like that in a long time.

Great debate. Obama came out swinging. Romney's biggest mistake, IMO, was asking Obama questions. Romney should have just made his points, and went on. Romney missed a major opportunity on the Libya issue. In the same breath, Romney got some great jabs in on Obama's record, and I thought he did great with the George Bush question. If it were graded on points, I would give Obama a slight edge, but overall I think it came out a draw.

I have been saying this forever, Obama can't defend the last 4 years. Impossible. These debates only show the undecideds there has to be a better way.

Cooper has pointed out that the "transcript" doesn't actually illustrate what Obama/Crowley suggested in that moment. And Crowley tried to make up for it as soon as she said it by questioning the administration's actions over the next two weeks, but the crowd outburst got in the way. Kind of ironic, considering she assured us the crowd wouldn't interject, and their lone interjection prevented her from effectively being impartial in one of the most crucial moments of the debate. So yeah, Romney came off looking like an ass at the time, but both Cooper/Crowley have said after the fact Romney had a point.

Crowley made he mistake of acting as fact check. Should have left that to Obama.

I should note, I'm only looking at this purely from a debate/scoring standpoint. I think the admin has been negligent in dealing with Libya...but I think the way the Romney team reacted when it went down basically was completely in line with the 47% video where Romney essentially said they'd make hay if the "opportunity" arose.

Again, it's very clear what Romney was saying. He didn't illustrate his point as cleanly as he could have, and perhaps he would have had the moderator not injected herself, but I'm not sure how Romney's point could have been lost unless someone seriously was asleep throughout the Obama administration's reaction to Libya.

This is one of Romney's biggest problems. He doesn't seem comfortable making tough criticisms. The result is he looks whiny and weak instead of dedicated/decisive.

That Obama didn't use the words "act of terror" immediately following the attack.

His point was really that the President did NOT tell the American people the assassination was a planned attack carried out by a terrorist group (as it was). For two weeks or so the American people believed it was a violent reaction from demonstrators outraged by some stupid video that went viral mocking Muslims.

obama really dominated tonight, finally called out romney on his lies. and his bull-shit about a number of issues, including gas prices. that is one issue i can't stand. both sides play it too. but i don't think it has gotten this much attention in a national election for president, usually its a third party attacking.

i just don't get why people can not grasp deflation.
