After checking SportsInsights this morning, I see the following as RLM:

San Fran
Detroit
Carolina
New Orleans

I am keeping an eye on Buffalo and San Diego.

Morning all - Ive been following along the CFB RLM but just came across this one for NFL. Isnt the RLM on the San Fran game backwards...or am I missing something? Line opened at SF(-1) and is now SF(-2.5) but 67% is on the Broncos. I thought the RLM would push the line the other way - like down to a pick 'em?

Same with Carolina. Line opened at StLouis(-3) and is now StLouis(-1)...but 74% of the bets are on StLouis...isnt that an expected move with so much of the bets coming in on StLouis?

You'd expect the line to move the other way if everyone's on St. Louis. For instance, if three quarters of people are on the Rams, you would think the line would get larger to entice people to bet the Panthers. Instead, it's moved the other way. That's RLM.

You probably should not be betting anything untill you learn more. Ok if 74% was on St. Louis it should mean more money would be on them, to stop the public from betting on them the Books will move the line up from -3 to -4 to get people to bet the other side. So if 74% is on the Rams and the line is going down then that would mean there is heavy money the other way. The books need money on the Rams then and will lower the line to entice people to bet on it.

McNabb is pretty beat up. I will say that the lines in a couple of these games...even though they are RLM..make me nervous.

For example the Detroit line started at -1 and is now at -2.5 at Pinny and it is -3 everywhere else. Usually Pinny's line is lower than everyone else on the side they want you on. Same is true for San Fran.

However if Pinny moves up to -3 Detroit looks good.

I thought RLM happened when the majority of the bets were on one team and the line improved. Like if 70% were on SF vs DEN then SF would move from -1 open to pick'em.

But you are saying RLM works when there is a majority of bets placed on a team but the other team then gets a better line? huh?

Smart move. I really can't embrace any of these RLMs today except the Saints. I think that's a solid pick. Don't understand why Detroit is favored to begin with so that's probably a safe play but I don't have the stomach for it.

The only picks I am making for early games have nothing to do with RLM. Taking the Jets and Cowboys money line parlay for a 90% payout.

The 49ers game opened at a pickem at most sites. Between 60 and 70% of wagers have been placed on Denver yet the line moved to San Fran 1.5/-2.5/-3 at some sites. As far as Reverse Line Movements go, this is a signal that that "vegas, wise, sharp, etc." money is opposite of what the public is on. The public loses more often than it wins over time. If they didn't, than more people would be gamblers than aren't.
