[1st Half] Memphis-Tennessee Over 68.5 [-110] I think Memphis will seek to get back to the frenetic pace they prefer after yesterday's slower tempo with Michigan. They also have some defensive issues that Michigan exploited and the Vols appear capable of putting up points here after a pretty solid showing in the loss to Duke. Tennessee is shooting 49% from the floor. Looking for Memphis to attack the rim and get to the foul line earlier too for some possible freebies if they can make them. I think that's when they are at their best.

New day and an easy win to start off. That's how I like it.
[4:30pm ET]
Georgetown -21.5 [-105] Hoyas main opponent here figures to be the quick turn around from the late loss to Kansas. Chaminade pushed UCLA for a half, but was pounded into submission by what looks to be a very mediocre UCLA team that wound up winning by 30+. The good thing for the Hoyas is that game was their first in a week so the back-2-back shouldn't be overly challenging this early in the season. The Hoyas have been highly efficient on offense with almost 50% shooting from the floor, 36% from beyond the arc. Hollis Thompson and Jason Clark have provided steady production so far. Chaminade allowed UCLA to shoot 51% from the field and wound up shooting under 30% themselves. They were pounded on the boards, 49-27. The Hoyas were +15 on the boards before Kansas outboarded them last night, most of that against lower tier teams that like Chaminade .. they should control. As long as Georgetown is able to put the KU game behind them and start strong, they should wear down Chaminade. High spread won't be for everybody and people will talk of Chaminade's history and what not, but Georgetown is a better team than UCLA from what I have seen and if UCLA can smoke Chaminade in one half .. the Hoyas can at least do the same.

Arkansas Pine Bluff +13 [-106] This is going to be an ugly game between Pine Bluff and SMU. Two teams that are offensively challenged to say the least. Still, the line seems high considering that fact. SMU appears to be a bit better defensively, but Pine Bluff showed some gusto by grabbing a two point win over FIU, a squad that beat George Mason in OT previously. Savalace Townsend has to do the work for Pine Bluff to compete and they must cut down on turnovers.

Elon-Princeton Under 133 [-110] Elon will want a faster pace, but the patented Princeton offense will be what should dictate tempo here .. at least if Princeton wants to compete with this talented Elon squad. If possessions stay at a premium, the under should have a chance here as Princeton's offense isn't conducive to getting a lot of free throws.

Heat check passed! Probably rolling with just 2nd halves to finish the night. Contemplating a Cal-Mizzou play. Have my idea and might just try it.

Missouri-California Under 145 [-110] My take here is that this number is set high based on the explosive nature of Missouri's offense so far this season. They have been highly efficient in Frank Haith's system so far. What I see here though is two defenses that have really shut down the opposition. Certainly, these will be their biggest tests against efficient opposition. Looking at the # of possessions though, both teams will need to shoot the ball very well I think for this number to go over. I think once Frank Haith's half court system is seen more and more, the totals will probably become somewhat lower in some Missouri games. I'm taking a chance that the tempo is slower than the total suggests and the defenses make more stops than not.

Had to settle for a push in Cal-Mizzou. If Mizzou dribbles it out instead of hoisting a three, would have got it. Oh well. Good bounce back.

[1st Half] Niagara-Sam Houston State Under 60.5 [-110] Neither team is playing high quality on offense right now with both teams shooting poorly. Niagara is shooting just 41%. Sam Houston is shooting only 36%. Sam Houston has been especially stingy on defense, allowing under 40% shooting. Both teams don't appear to play particularly quick so far this season with the # of possessions per game. Niagara would appear to prefer a more up tempo game, but don't always get there while Sam Houston is netting possessions in the mid to lower 60s - showing more of a half court preference. It is also the 3rd game is three days for both teams, so the shooting isn't likely to all of a sudden get better.

[5:00pm ET] Georgetown-Memphis Under 143 [-110] Contrast of styles that will remind you of the Michigan-Memphis game. In that one, Michigan's zone looks gave Memphis fits offensively and Georgetown does employ a zone look on defense that I expect they will use more often than not today. The Hoyas like most teams just do not match-up athletically in a man-2-man situation vs. most of the Tigers' players. Therefore, the zone defense is a key to slowing Memphis. It will also cut down on the one-on-one opportunities that Memphis thrives on to get to the free throw line. Georgetown will exercise patience in their Princeton offense to try to keep the tempo down and make the Tigers defend their cuts. The Hoyas have been very precise offensively, so Memphis must be on their toes. I think you factor in tired legs potentially here for Memphis after the double OT game, not to mention that I'm not quite certain of this team's mental toughness yet to play against slower paced teams. I think if Georgetown has their mark on this game, it ends with both teams in the mid to upper 60s or thereabout.

This Memphis total is screwed though. No D and the pace is a little too fast. Oh well. May try to make it up with a 2nd half bet if it's a good line.

Because I knew it was going to overtime?
Totally kidding. I use a formula looking at # of possessions in the half, plus looking at game flow, FTs, shot selection, etc. to make up my mind.

Evansville -5 [-105] Big experience edge to the MVC squad here as Evansville brings back several starters from last year and has good overall depth. Illinois-Chicago meanwhile sports a bunch of freshmen learning their way into collegiate ball. That has shown as this team is struggling hard to execute offensively, shooting just 38% from the field. Their defense has been what has kept them in games and it will be tested by Evansville's shooters who are nailing 39% from distance. Colt Ryan is the one to watch for the Purple Aces.

Oklahoma-Washington State Over 148.5 [-110] This will all come down to efficiency. OU is putting up a ton of shots per game, around 70 plus free throws. Wazzou doesn't quite play that tempo, but they are efficient. They make 50% plus from the floor. If OU is aggressive and gets to the FT line, I think there will be a chance here. After breaking for Thanksgiving, time to roll again.
