#930Thank god for NBA lately. At least the Cavs and Thunder have been reliable, otherwise NCAA would have buried me.
Hmm, Stanford +11 tonight? Iowa -6.5? Not seeing much else I like yet.Comment -

#931I want to throw something out here. I've been beating the NCAA bball line by a 0.5- 1.5 points the past 2 wks with the majority of my picks and I'm getting murdered in college ball. However, NBA, I have had some decent closling line value and it is keeping my head above water. Any opinions on this? Closing line value is contraversal but professionals not 100 dollar bets are moving the line unless its a large public fav in a primetime spot IMO.Comment -

#934@eddycash... i'll try to explain more clearly.
nebraska bet at 8.5, closed at 7.5 loser
Illinois st bet at 7.5, closed at 6, loser
providence bet at 4.5, closed at 4 loser
these are just a few examples off top of my head. my point is, the times that i have beaten the line, are the games that im losing whereas, nba, is just the opposite. Seems like this has been happening for past 2, 2.5 wks in college bball.Comment -

#937Beating the closer in hoops doesn't mean a whole lot imo. Obviously we feel a lot better when we get the best # on a game, but truth is it doesn't matter as much as most ppl think. To get an idea of where a line is going use pinny as a reference, their lines typically dictate the market. You can usually see which way a line will move based on pinny's juice.
I would worry more about being on the right side of a game than getting the best # available. Sometimes trying to predict where a line will go will drive you crazy.Comment -

If it was a matter of reading lines we would all be rich.
I just had my best month ever and didn't really pay attention that much. Even when lines went against me I would still hit the side if I liked it. I did way better that way when I didn't second guess myself.
Also, I cut down on plays and went bigger on games I liked. It worked great.
The opener tells me more than the closer.
Line moves are only right half the time then people freak out when an inferior team doesn't cover.
Obviously you want the best number but you shouldn't base plays off of movement alone.
Line movement is a small variable. Familiarity with teams and situations is way more important.Comment -

#940@bigdof...your using last month as an example...too small of a sample. But I agree to certain extent that game needs to b capped regardless of predicted line movement.Comment -
