Cashed pacers 1st half on that game myself.

8-22 for 27 points, 6 boards, 2 dimes. good overall game for him but Ariza still held him to under 40%, no one can guard a guy like granger just got to make him work for it

interesting matchup. Dwight is going to dominate this game in my opinion. The Mavs are as good as they are defensively because of Butler, Chandler, and marion all being able to play 1 on 1 d, with butler, stevenson, marion guarding the tougher perimeter guys. That's why they are a good matchup against wade and lebron. Chandler can guard many centers 1 on 1 but no one can guard Dwight 1 on 1 and I don't think the Mavs are disciplined enough to stay home on the Magic's 3 point shooters. Ideally, you can let dwight play 1 on 1 if he can, you can't win games like that. But I don't think Rick is smart enough to implement this strategy. Chandler and Haywood will both be in foul trouble. Bass will not allow Dirk to get anything going off the dribble. Dirk will be taking fadeaways and trying to shoot over the top of the shorter bass all game. Turkoglu will probably give Dirk some looks too throughout the game. I did not watch today's Miami game but by looking at the box score Terry did not shoot all that well and we know he is extremely streaky. Not really sure what rotation Van Gundy will go with, but the key here would be to get Terry to guard Reddick because Terry is easily exposable on the defensive end. Van Gundy will use Quentin on both Marion and Butler probably at different times. He is probably the Magic's best perimeter defender. To ask baraea to guard areanas would be pretty silly. Gilbert is not really in form and he defeintely is lacking some explosion but if he wakes up for this game he can easily do what he wants offensively. If I were Carslile I would put someone else on Gilbert, maybe Stevenson, maybe even terry. This isn't the playoffs though so It's tough for me to accurately assess the strategies and matchups without watching film.

Nelson and JRich should play pretty well for the Magic, I see Dwight and Hedo's penetration to get them some open looks. I would look for teh same trend to continue with the Magic as with the Suns- when J rich scores 24+ I think the Magic will be unstoppable. I would lean Magic in this game but wait until tipoff to take them because I can't see why the public wouldn't pound the Mavs at +3 in this spot.

Terry was getting everything he wanted late in the game, he was the reason why DAllas won the game.

I like the Mavs because their recent success came from playing good defense and changing from man-to-man to zone and confund their offenses. I think this is gonna be a huge key to win this game. CArlisle is smart he's been great on coaching the team to easily change D. That's how they got Lebron because anytime he penetrated he got double-teamed and lost the ball or made a poor shot.

Butler will give Hedo all kinds of problem if Van Gundy stick with him at SF. He's very slow defensive and that's a problem for the Magic since Butler can drive and kick the ball out to a team with great 3 point shooters in stevenson, kidd, terry.

TErry is undersized and i'm pretty sure we won't see much of barea/terry at the same time because of the size advantage reddick/arenas would have against them. Kidd was on Wade tonight when he was in the court with Terry, their help defense was very good.

thanks for the notes on the game. i will take these into consideration before i make a play tmorrow. the thing is though paul you can't play a zone against a jump shooting team. zones are implemented when you try to dare teams to shoot jump shots
