#107Unfortunately, I fear that Lebron has ushered in a new wave of players who are more athletes than basketball players and along those same lines, more concerned with individual feats and marketability than competing and winning.
Many will argue that Michael Jordan started this and he is certainly partially responsible; while Johnson and Bird re-energized the league and gave it two stars for everyone to watch, Jordan played a major role in changing how the game is played in that he made a one-on-one style of play more popular. However, Jordan was the preeminent competitor. Jordan wanted to win like we have no idea and he would do anything if it meant winning a ring. Kobe is very much in that same mold. Lebron however, is not, and unfortunately he is the one that young players want to be like. There will always be true competitors out there on the court, I just hope that the best athletes will be more like Michael and Kobe instead of Lebron.Comment -

#109That's right Mac. You got some sense and will tell it like it really is. Too many kids want to suck his dick. He is a great athlete.. nothing more. Not worth sucking dick over. He is absent of qualites of a true champion. The world and Lebron lovers have gave him a pass to often and already crowned his ass and he hasn't won anything. After last nites performance if I was an owner I would be glad I did not have him signed. It wasn't he had a bad game. That's possible for anybody, but he ruined the integrity of the game when he failed to compete. He gave no effort last nite and has played harder in pick-up games. I can live with a guy having a bad nite, but I can't tolerate no effort. If your shot is off and you are the man there are other things you can do to win.
I think that performance last night will forever be etched in his legacy. I can't recall ever seeing another elite player in any sport fail to compete like that. The only event I thought about was when Oliver McCall brokedown in the ring against Lennox Lewis. It was like Lebron was on meds and didn't want to fight. But then for him to say what he said in his presser was over the top.
Almost everyone is saying that it looked like he didn't care. What other athlete, even outside of basketball have we said that about? In one of the biggest game's of the year on the largest stage he was disinterested then backed up his nonchalant attitude with that horseshit press conference. Everybody has bad games but who ever doesn't care??? Totally intolerable.Comment -

#110That's what's so ridiculous. He was crowned king before he even stepped on the court? That's crazy. I was happy when he came to Cleveland but I could never ever call him "King", when he's never won anything, never created a legacy. A King is a ruler, who is he ruling over? A King has a dynasty. His dynasty so far is trying to make money.

#117I've heard Lebron say that there's more to the game then basketball. It appears that he loves the money more than the game. He's trying to recruit other top guys with the same attitude. Create your brand, make money, etc... What a crock. I've played cards with Jordan and my uncle coached him with golf and this guy is addicted to the thrill of winning/action. He would get up 5am to get in 3 rounds of golf then play cards till 2am and do it all over again for days at a time. Totally possessed. Jordan wouldn't even had went to sleep last night. Lebron looked like he slept like a baby.
"In the next 15 or 20 years, I hope I'll be the richest man in the world. That's one of my goals. I want to be a billionaire. I want to get to a position where generation on generation don't have to worry about nothing. I don't want family members from my kids to my son's kids to never have to worry. And I can't do that now just playing basketball."

Bro, I have made respect for you. You just tell the truth 100%. You are on fire tonite and on mark with every post you have made that I have read.
For me it was the effort/attitude I can't get past. As we all know anybody is subject to a bad game or off nite, but to simply play with no intensity or purpose in arguably the bigegst game of his life??? Personally, I am one of those Lebron haters, but in actuality i didn't hate him the person/player but all the worship and praise he has recieved.. Like I said earlier in another post...had I came from another planet and had not watched the last 25 yrs of the NBA I would be certain he was the best player the NBA has ever seen.
That effort and then the press conference was the worst I had ever seen.
I was mentioning earlier how bad Kevin Durant shot against the Lakers at home in game 3 but he didn't quit. He got 19 rebounds played stout defense and his team won because he cared and didn't give in.
That Lebron James stuff last nite was beyond a bad game. The awful effor then the stunning prsee conference was one of the biggest epic fails of an athlete. Me, if I am an owner I wouldn't have wanted him after last nite. I actualy thought Mike Brown should had benched him earlier and asked somebody on that bench did they want to compete. I would rather go to war with less talent that wanted to compete than a man that had another agenda.Comment -

#131Are you fuking kidding me Williams? I knew you were a bandwagon Cleveland fan. How the fuk can you follow this selfish bastard if he leaves the Cav's. I've been a Cav fan from birth and I will always be a Cav fan. If Lebron leaves Cleveland AFTER the team has bent over front and back, catered to his every whimper, released coaches and players who he didn't like, gave him EVERYTHING he wanted and he leaves FOR LESS MONEY to another club after growing up in Akron??? Gilbert has spent millions in promoting him, backing him, paid luxury tax after luxury tax to give him what he wants and all Lebron does is look like he could care less with his shitty playoff performance than he says that he only had 3 bad games and that Cav fans are spoiled??? Are you serious? Fuk off Lebron. Lebron's name would be shit in my eyes if he leaves. He will be a worse turncoat than Art Modell. He would set this franchise back many years if he leaves but we will survive and become better for it. Lebron is a selfish whiny brat that is a control freak that has to have his own way. What player has he made better? Who has he allowed to step up? That's not team. He showed no emotion last night because he's more worried about becoming a billionaire than creating history. He's courting college athletes and running his bullshit promotion company trying to sign other players when he should be busting his ass to win a title. Do you think Jordan would have time for that shit? He'll never be a champion because he has no heart. He's gutless and cares only about himself. Cleveland already offered him max money and he didn't sign it because he's a drama queen and wants everyone to fawn over him. If he was committed to Cleveland he would have signed months ago. He's already been given the keys to the team. You wonder why the Cav's can't get another elite number 2 option? Because Lebron can't make a dam commitment. I've seen his stripes the past few weeks and I'm hearing a lot of shit. I've given him the benefit of the doubt but I'm pretty much resigned that he's checked out. I won't shed a tear but I dam sure won't be following that chump to another team.Comment -

#132
Gilbert, Cav's owner came out and basically apologized to fans about the teams effort. I found it strange that he had to say it when Lebron should have said it. I really expected Lebron to come out last night and give a Tebow guarantee speech. I thought he was going to say that that game was all on him and that he let the team down, the city down, the game of basketball down. That he would not go to sleep and figure out a way to play better and promise to lay it all out on the court tomorrow even if it meant his elbow fell off.
Unfortunately, all he said was me, me, me, blah, blah, blah.
We are of the same opinion again. Tebow has class, humility and a champion already... 3 things absent from queen james. I love that Tebow kid. I know many don't but what's not to like about him? I know many think he will fail because he can't do this or that... but the one thing you can't teach is being a winner and Tebow is already a winner. He is also a hard worker, humble, coachable, and many other things. I would have drafted Tebow 1R also. Denver is smart to get him. He will help that team this year even if he doesn't play a down. He is a character person and will lead that team sooner rather than later. The gifts Tebow has can't be taught.
Even though as a queen james non-supporter I had nothing against him personally until last nite. That effort and press conference will be talked about for years more than the 3-14 shooting nite and 1-11 on jumpers.Comment -

Did you ever see Jordan or Kobe leave to team up with a star to win a championship when they were failing?? NO, of course not. Both were already champions...just didn't have the hardware to prove it yet. I will be shocked if James is ever a champion. He has all the money and fame he will ever need just doing what he does now. When it is all said in done he will probably be the wealthiest athlete the world has ever seen. Williams, if you wasn't so blinded and infactuated with your hero you would see the real discussion here is not about Lebron's bad game, but rather his poor effort then the ironic follow up press conference.
Take some points from Mac4lyfe.. He is a real Cavs fan. You are a Lebron fan and will follow him to NY next season.
Just remember.. he is not a king/god/chosen one/or anything else you want to call him.
Bottomline.. Lebron only cares for himself and money. Being a champion is not that important to him and it shows.Comment -
