Gotta disagree with you Roag on Celts being the early favorite. Lakers are just too dangerous and have to much talent. They are DEF. the top 2 with the Lakers a slight edge imo.

Will be fun to watch throughout the year.

layin off the cavs until we see what they are all about. i see a first to last scenario here. well not THAT bad, but mike brown is not the best coach out there to overhaul a system and incorporate Shaq. Until now Mike brown as relied on lebron to create and dish. Now he has to figure out a way to play Shaq and Z AND clear shaq out of the lane to give lebron space to take it to the rack!?!?! not gonna happen, thats why Z worked so well, cause he could sit at 15 feet and pop those open short corner J's all night without clogging up the lane for lebron. Mike Brown is NOT the coach to come up such a complex system! Cavs are gonna suck it up all year

hauser...i like finding a trend and going with it, such as your first quarter bets on the solid teams of SA, boston, LA etc... your logic is sound, the good teams win the 1st and 3rd quarters more. If you know basketball, or played seriously at all, you know those are the important quarters and thats where most games are decided. NOT the 4th quarter! (heres a link just as an example, http://www.82games.com/random11.htm). So if they are just taking the line and dividing it by 4 then that betting strategy will kill all year. Seeing as the good teams will normally put teams away early and then let off the gas in the 2nd half/4th quarter, what does everyone think about playing the dog in 2nd half lines?

the last year i spent any time on betting was 3 years ago when the sonics went nuts and started scoring 120pts a game, i bet them over all year and made a ton of money (they went over 70% of the time, you couldnt make the O/U high enough that year). Im looking at the nuggs at home, trailblazers at home, warriors and pacers to go over for me all year. Im gonna pay attention to the Jazz and Knicks to see what their O/U records are going to look like. O/U has always been a fav of mine cause i think you can find solid trends and its more reliable to predict than the line. So far im 6-0 this year on it (granted 4 of those games came down to 1 point, so i could easily be 2-6).

everyone let me know what yall think, im trying to learn here and i need to know whats decent strategy and whats just trash...and Roag, i love your teasers. especially finding those games around a 9.5 line. it takes a TERRIBLE team to get blown out in the league by 7, but a team whos spotted 9.5 points would also have to play OUT OF THEIR mind to only lose by 1.5. i like it, sound logic. i wanna start parlaying, what is everyones thoughts and where to lay money on the NBA when you parlay and what to look for? sorry for all the novice questions, thanks everyone

2 parlays killed, a 6 teamer by 2 pts in the Rockets/Blazers game, and that 8 teamer by the Cavs.

But I'm right there. I've hit 8 to 10 team parlays in basketball and will again, especially when the NCAA games start.

On my basketball parlays, I always buy 2 points. I'd rather hit for $400-$500 at -150 than lose at -110.

Parlays are so much harder to hit, but we're going to hit some nice ones this season there's no doubt. I wish I could give you a "system" but I can't, it really comes down to situational betting (who is playing who and when and where, etc.).

You will rarely see me take a team thats favored by 5-7 pts with the teaser. If the line isn't 8 or higher then there's a better chance they will lose, so that game is either a no-play for me or I take the dog with the points.

As Travis said, the -9.5 lines are the best. Actually, 8 to 10 is what I'll normally play for the favorite (so PK to -2 with the 8 pts). If I really think the dog can hold their own (especially a dog playing at home and the favorite is either on a bad streak or long road trip) then I'll take the dog getting 16-18 at home.

There's a method to my madness, but we need to see analyze it on a night by night basis.
