I like this play but I'll be content cashing the first half under and be done with this game.

How many have we seen plays like Miami +3 cash in the past year? I know it's square as hell but a lot of people took LA -3 tonight just because of the line. It's almost like the books made it too easy to take the Lakers by making them a solid 3 point favorite.

How has that been working out betting against teams like the Clippers this year?

Sometimes I think Vegas does this on purpose to trick people into taking a side. Don't you agree that they probably got a more "sharp" money because of the line they set? Don't you think this might have been their intention.

At any rate, who the hell knows. It's the NBA. I quit buying the theory that the books are "begging" for Miami money when I see so many people on the Lakers. Does this board not think it's the public? Books like to get money on both sides and I think they set a line that did that.

Quite honestly, what do people expect the line to be? Miami isn't playing well and is coming off a back to back.

If it was as easy as making plays based off the line we would all be rich.

There wasn't really a good reason to take LA IMO other than the line.

Yes and no. I was saying this in a college basketball thread to t-wizz re: the Gophers tonight -- people see a short home fave and think it's a play even if they're the "inferior" squad, but honestly, how often does a home team -1 to -3 cash? Seems like hardly ever.

I've personally gotten absolutely buried taking single-possession home faves during the three-plus years I've been gambling.

damn what a shitty day today is,,2 freaking college hoops gms and 1 home dog on fri night nba card? shit that 1 of the few angles i play from time to time in nba, need some action and no home doggies, aint that a bitch.. might be with you on dal seeing how they the only 1,,usually feel better when i have at least a handful of mls to play when i do this...tennis anyone? lol

Can't believe how light the college card is.

I'm not just playing the home dog angle with Dallas. I've been watching them recently and think they're ready to turn the corner. I hope it starts tonight. This is my biggest NBA play of the year so far.

The Mavs have won four in a row and are really rounding into form right now. Granted they've been owned by Oklahoma City in recent meetings, but this is a chance for them to show on national TV that they're still going to have a say in the playoff race before all is said and done. Dirk is looking better and better and so is Dallas' defense. I like what Mayo and Collison have brought to the table for the Mavs, and I still think Carlisle is a better coach than Brooks.

I'm not asking for the Mavs to win a series here -- just a game. I'll admit I'm not crazy about Brothers being in the mix though. The line has definitely moved against me since this morning, but there's nothing I can do about it now.

Wouldn't exactly say owned, they have covered their last 9 or so on the road vs OKC, granted they're at home today. Just rarely actually win but always play em tough bar that game 3 joke.

I've actually been backing Dallas quite a bit recently but I'm not too sure about this one. Hope they win as a fan. gl.

I like Dallas and the under GL.

Unlike the Lakers, Dallas is better than their record indicates. They just had to wait to get Dirk back and acclimated.

The Mavs line movement is why I always wait until right before the game starts to put in my bet. It seems like I always used to hurt myself more than I helped by taking the line early.

With that that said, the largest wager I made last year ended up winning after the line moved against me 2 points in about an hours time before tip off.

Line movement hasn't meant anything this week. I think on Monday, every line move play lost.

I think Dallas hangs around in this one and might even win. For some reason I think it will be like a 2-3 point game.

I like Brooklyn and Washington.

People overrate Denver. They are a bad free throw shooting team and play little to no defense. I think Washington is better than their record indicates as well, especially since Wall is back.

Yeah there have been some jumpy lines today. I don't think anyone thought the line would reach +6 in the Mavs game. Honestly, I just don't get the line movement. I don't see how Dallas doesn't show up for this game. OKC embarrassed them last year in the playoffs, Friday night game (fans should show up), nationally televised game, and the Mavs are finally starting to gel.
