Glad you like our game.
Regarding the scoring it's all over the place, basketball at pro level you don't get the variation in scoring for each quarter as you do in AFL, depending on matchups across the field, sides can be shutdown and kept scoreless for a quarter or even a half, odd occasion nearly the entire game and a side can go from kicking 2-3 goals a quarter and then kick 10-12 in one. Playing stats on their own isn't very wise in AFL, you need to watch/follow the games and understand how teams matchup, play at certain grounds/interstate, this was Geelongs second game on the road, last week was 2500km away in Western Aus, also if they're playing on a shorter week, injuries.
Also despite some sides being far greater as far as skill of players on the list and record for the season, like with all sports it's never a sure thing a $1.10 fave will win SU let alone in AFL cover a large spread like -39.5. Less skilled teams can still chase and tackle hard and slow other teams from scoring and the coaches can have a negative/defensive mindset and flood the backline with extra players. By stats Geelong should have won by around 80 points. Lions are a young side but with teams like that doing poorly for the season, when their players are playing for a spot on the team next year and not to be cut they can lift and play beyond themselves.
