    Pronger suspended for Game 4
This should tie the series up at 2-2

OTTAWA (AP) -- Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger received a one-game suspension Sunday for his hit to the head of Ottawa forward Dean McAmmond in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Pronger, also given a one-game ban during the Western Conference finals, leveled McAmmond with a forearm Saturday night in the Ducks' 5-3 loss to the Senators. He will miss Game 4 of the series, that Anaheim leads 2-1, on Monday night. He is eligible to return for Game 5 back in Anaheim on Wednesday.

It is the sixth career NHL suspension for the 6-foot-6, 220-pound, hard-hitting All-Star and the second in these playoffs. During the previous round against Detroit, Pronger was banned for Game 4 after his hit to the head of Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom against the boards.

"The positives that Chris Pronger brings to the table far outweigh the negatives," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said moments after the announcement. "We live with the suspension and we move forward."

Pronger wasn't penalized on the ice for either of the hits that led to his suspensions.

"A variety of factors were considered in reaching this decision," NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell said. "Mr. Pronger used his forearm to deliver a forceful hit to the head of his opponent. Also, his actions caused injury to his opponent."

McAmmond -- seven inches and 30 pounds smaller than Pronger -- was struck as he skated with the puck toward the Ducks net. He did a spin, fell backward, struck his head on the ice, and slid into the corner in the Anaheim zone at 2:01 of the third period.

"When I look at it, there are plusses and minuses to 6-foot-6," Campbell said. "Just because you have a height advantage doesn't mean you can deliver an elbow to the head.

"To us, an elbow to the head is a dangerous play regardless of the player's size."

McAmmond briefly lost consciousness, Senators coach Bryan Murray said, but there was no official announcement that the veteran of 14 NHL seasons sustained a concussion.

After receiving medical attention for several minutes, a dazed and woozy McAmmond was helped to the dressing room and didn't return. His status for Game 4 is questionable at best.

"McAmmond doesn't look promising," Senators coach Bryan Murray said Sunday before the suspension was levied.

Campbell said he had "no doubt" McAmmond was knocked out on the ice.

"We think it was totally unintentional. The league thought different," Carlyle said. "Chris Pronger is a competitive player. Some people will say he's using his size as an excuse.

"The fact of the matter is his elbows are higher than most people's elbows. It's not like he raised his elbow to deliver a blow to the head."

Cannot bite for that price on Ottawa. Last time Pronger got suspended ... I thought ANA would lose, they didn't. I'll take ANA +170 in this one. They probably won't pull it out, but no value for me in laying that much on OTT.

under is a solid play IMO if you can get 5.5 most local books try to fvck you and give 5 over 25 which would take back +105 but it is normally the difference of a push or win. I do think ott wins this game about 3-1,4-1 therfore I like ottawa and under.

For me, losing one player (albeit a star) player in hockey doesn't negatively affect a team as much as you would think it does. Only losing a goalie makes a major impact in my books. I'm banking on the others stepping up in Prongers absence and the ducks changing to a tight checking game. Thus I'm waiting for the ottawa backers to pump the price up for Anaheim (hopefully +200) and then im all over it plus a little lay on the under line.

This number is completely out of line. Pronger is quality no doubt, but i agree with figjam here, unless it's a goalie no single player is worth this type of a price increase!

Glad to see some of the old gang back figjam and cobraking.

I don't think pronger being out raised the spread, I think the fact a lot of action on ottawa the last game drove the number then pronger missing edged it up.

                game one -178/+168

                game two -191/+178

only 13 points from game one.

I agree the price on Ottawa is way too high. They were fortunate to win Game 3. Pulling for them to even the series, but I expect a tight game tonight. I don't think Pronger out is worth all that much.

I haven't been playing much as theres not much value now. I'm sure we'll see all members of the old gang once the new season starts again in October.

Yeah...don't play if you liking the ducks because at -169 is way too much vig as Ott is a very good road team. If anything I might take a flyer with a very small lay on the ducks -1.5 as im hoping if they lead by a goal in the dying moments, ott will pull their goalie early and maybe i can get an empty netter.

Thanks fig, I don't even lay the -1.5 in baseball, so it's going to be tough for me to do it here, the prices I get are:

                          Ducks -170 or -1.5 +190

Maybe just better to pass on this one.

                          BTW, great job this season
