Have to use strength of schedule to determine order.

A playoff system should be implemented by next year after the debacle that will come from this year's BCS.

Anybody rooting for a Kansas and Cincinnati/South Florida championship game? Favorable schedules are there to make a run at the title game. Crazy year, I love it

I am rooting for one of the big boys with losses to get in instead of an undefeated team so that the revolution can begin.

Me too.
Makes the OU-Mizzou game going on right now a big one. Still plenty of time for all undefeateds to fall. All they need to do is add one game to the system, championship game after a 1-4, 2-3 round.

The BCS has made it clear that it's all just about winning, regardless of the opponents are and the true quality of your team. Ohio State will win out playing in the shitty quality Big Ten and playing teams like Kent and Youngstown State, while the truly best teams in the country get sacked with losses. There's no incentive whatsoever to schedule difficult opponents or play in a quality conference with the system as it currently stands....

Bollocks, you have mentioned OSU playing against Youngstown St. and Kent st. quite a bit. Now, i'm no buckeye backer, except when i got money on them, but you have to give a team credit where its due. they lost alot of good players and are still a top team. i'm sure you know most teams always schedule a couple easy wins to help their record and guarantee a bowl bid. also most teams like OSU play those teams cause of tradition, they have played them for years, alot of teams play smaller in-state schools. i know here in louisville, i've read in the paper about how the AD tries to get games against big name schools, but they all want to play just one game on their turf, or a sign a 2 game series that doesn't play back-to-back and its on their home turf both times. teams from the big 6 conferences already have to play a tough schedule against teams from their own conference, that they play year in and out.
but back to OSU's schedule, heres is the recent AP top ten and their Sagarin rankings, and their strength of schedule and a couple chump teams on their schedule and their overall ranking
1) LSU (28) Tulane 140, Mid Tenn St. 117
2) Cal (35) Louis. Tech 118, Colorado St. 103
3) Ohio St. (38) Youngstown st. 94, Kent St. 102
4) B.C. (78) Army 111, UMass 83, Bowling green 73
5) S.Florida (32) Elon 145, Florida Atl. 104
6) Oklahoma (85) N.Texas 173, Utah St. 136
7) S.Carolina (44) Louis. Laf. 152, S.Carolina St. 170
8) W.Virginia (46) Marshall 131, E.Carolina 63
9) Oregon (10) Houston 71, Fresno St. 64
10) USC (53) Idaho 142

Hey Louisville, I always enjoy reading your responses as you're about as well thought out as they come by. Thanks for posting those Sagarin ratings of some opponents of those top 10 schools. I agree with you that Jim Tressel deserves all the credit in the world for being as consistent year in and year out as he is.
One thing I'd like to mention, however, is that those opponents listed above are somewhat cherry picked. Cal has had a home and home series with Tennessee ongoing, South Florida plays SEC teams on the road, USC plays a couple of quality non-conference opponents every year, West Virginia plays SEC teams every year, South Carolina plays Clemson, Florida plays FSU, Oregon and Oklahoma frequently travel to quality teams in other big six conferences (even playing one another recently), etc.
Not only does OSU generally play all cupcakes (they finally added UW this year), they play in by far the worst conference of the big six. They got creamed last year by a Florida team that won virtually all their conference games by single digits, and who later said that OSU wasn't even in the top 5 teams they played in '06. Sure they may win out playing a Michigan team that lost to Oregon by 30+ at home, a Wisconsin team that barely edged UNLV, a Michigan State team that reached by Pitt, and an Illinois team that lost at home to Mizzou, but they'll get absolutely waxed again regardless of the BCS bowl they'll play in. Why should they waste that spot in the championship game again when there are plenty of quality teams that could at least be competitive? The numbers never lie, and point strongly to another OSU blowout loss.

The SEC teams will get heavy consideratin in the final game because of their very tough schedules.

jjgold I think your right about the SEC teams will get heavier consideration because they beat each other up at the end of the year. It wouldn't surprise me if somehow South Florida gets a shot at the national championship considering they did beat Va. Tech and Auburn, they have to win out though and their schedule is very favorable right now.
