Yankees putting all this "fixed" nonsense to bed thank god. If they DO lose tonight (which I do hold possible) it will only be because they don't want to tire any valuable arms for the playoffs, nothing more. Guys making 10 million+ a year, competitive as hell, fixing games to avoid the Sox!

No, that LaRussa/Pujols package is just silliness coming from Casual Cubs fans. Most Cubs fans that I know that really follow baseball are really upset with the direction with the Cubs and many are disengaged. The Cubs are not drawing like they used to, and the people they are drawing are tourists. You can get Cubs tickets for extremely cheap supposedly, the weekends are more expensive though. Because you have people coming from out of town to spend the weekend in Chicago.
I am a Sox fan, but pay attention to all teams. I also am not a meatball and am objective. I really have no idea what is in the future for the Flubbies. If was I a Cubs fan I would be really nervous hearing things from Ricketts essentially stating that he did not consider anyone for the GM until Hendy was fired. Basically he said "now that the GM is gone, I can start the search". Uh What? They should have had someone ready to go or at least a list that they could act on quickly.
The Cubs need to get rid of Crain Kenny as well. He is a businessman, but from what is often said he is present in every single baseball related meeting. The general feeling you will get from Chicago Sports Writers are that Ricketts is completely incompetent. Quade appears to think he will be kept as manager. I doubt this, but this is the same club that kept Hendry around for far too long.
The Cubs are also trying to get taxpayer funding to fix up Wrigley. Wrigley is literally falling apart. They were refused once, but are going to try again. Obviously this is not a good time to ask for money from taxpayers. Ricketts seems like a better dreamer than owner. I have seen plans for closing down the area around Wrigley field during big series (White Sox, St Louis, Yankees, BoSox) and having a street festival. No way that ever happens.
Ricketts takes "just a fan, happy to be here approach", however he refuses to hire "baseball people" to run the team. You compare him to the owner of the team on the other side (Jerry Reinsdorf) and the differences are very apparent. Furthermore, look at what the Sox have done after firing Ozzie. They have been planning on this for at least a few months and have a very short list of manager hires and are ready to act. Dave Martinez and Sandy Alomar being top names.
Of course the Sox had a massive letdown of a year, one of the biggest disappointments in the league this year (if not the biggests, depends on what happens with Boston). Baseball in Chicago could very possible terrible for a few years. I'd think the Sox have the ability to recover quicker.Comment -

Wow...that home run in the top of the 9th of the Cardinals game was really just a microcosm of the last three months. Such a tease, but the 9th inning loss hits me again. I'm about to post my final regular season record. However, I have lost about 36x in profit in 8th/9th inning losses. These bad beats are just part of the game, but oh what could have been if just half of those went my way....Comment -

TB has the magic factor, but I'm not sure they can overcome those rangers bats.
I think the tigers and rangers face off in the alcs....ofcourse earlier in the week I thought the yankees would go to the ws so I reserve the right to change my mind.
I like the phillies, just not sure who they eill face in the nlcs. I can't wait to see some early prices.
