Well first of all, thanks for following along and i'm happy to be helping.
Secondly the lines makers are definitely smarter and know what they are doing. It's is plain and simple about making a profit long term, so what they do is set a line that is gonna generate them money, rather then who is the actual favorite and better chance of winning, hope that make sense. That usually means getting 50% on one side and 50% on the other, so they can at least collect juice. That being said they certainly have a feel and the information that individually most of us don't have. Plus im sure algorithms and whatever else. So I really think they set the line high or low according to what the public is gonna eat up/who they think is gonna win.
So to put it more simple, each game is different, and i think they have a couple ways they like to move it. One is based on setting a line that the public eats, and then dropping it cuz of sharp action the other way. Or i think they will move the line and make it heavier for the side they think is gonna hit, just for the off chance it doesn't and they collect in the big picture of all the games that day. It's all about picking spots and following the lines almost for the whole series and seeing patterns. I don't now how to explain it on here that well. I hope you learned something though lol
