Just curious; have you checked moneyline results for teams with rested bullpen vs. team with exhausted bullpen?

I have not. Giving it a quick look, today the biggest disparity is Washington and the Mets. Washington with the advantage in the bullpen.

BOL today DD. I have been laying low and am off to a slow start (at least posting-wise) in MLB, but I have been following your thread. Now that we're close to a month in, I think things will pick up a bit.
Time permitting, I'm going to try to figure out a way to qualify (as opposed to just quantify) bullpen usage. I'm a big believer in your reliever approach, but I think you would agree that not every reliever pitch has the same value.
Along those lines, if anyone had a list of #1 setup guys and #1 closers by team I would appreciate you sharing.
These numbers a little deceiving no? As rested their top 3 in pen yesterday and still got W

Thanks HG. As you know the Reliever Plays are just a one dimensional look at a game. Any input from you to be more targeted (therefore a higher winning percentage) would be greatly appreciated as always!!!

Good information for sure BB, but there are are only so many hours in a day, and I do do have another life and have to use my limited time to look at stats with a "broad brush" approach with my Reliever Plays. However, I encourage anyone who can contribute this type of information, to do so. Our goal should always be to strive for more winning plays

This is one of the things I'm interested in looking into. The ultimate question is: Will it improve results? Logically it should, but it may require some subjective analysis, which poses its own challenges. As I understand DD's current approach, he had a threshold number of pitches that qualifies/disqualifies a play. If nothing else, that approach is easily measured.

I look at number of pitches and the number of relievers used the last one day and last three days. Also, I look at the ERA of the bullpen and and rating of the closers. Finally, I look at the average pitch count of the starting pitcher which should be a factor on how early the relievers enter the game.
