#40The fact that he was chosen as the Giants' opening day starter this year kinda suggests that he was rated rather higher than 4th or 5th on the Giants' pitching staff.Comment -

#41again at the MLB level if you are having success its bc you are locating your pitches, changing speeds, eye levels , working both halves of the plate etc....
There is no such thing as a fluke... Chris Young is not a fluke he has not had sustained success in the past but he is a veteran who has tweaked his mechanics and found his groove. Also it doesnt hurt pitching in that beautiful pitchers ballpark in Seattle.Comment -

ricky nolasco opening day starter... 5 wins and 5 era in 2014.
like i said, if you were asked who'd win 18 games and 2.91 era prior to the season, bumgarner wouldnt even be the first 3 or 4 names out of everyone's mouth.Comment -

i said if people were asked which giants starter would win 18 games prior to this season, majority wouldve answered cain, hudson, lincecum and even vogelsong over bumgarner.
give us more fades, curryboy.

#53You are selling Bumgarner short, he has been ace of the Giants staff all along. Hell, he is one of the top lefties in the National League. Just because he doesn't have the name recognition that some of the others have, that does not change anything. Guy has had very good numbers the last couple of years while Lincecum and Cain have been going backwards.Comment -

but to say 13 wins last season would translate to 18 wins & counting this season is ridiculous. even vogelsong went 13-7 2.71 era only couple seasons ago but only won 14 games the next season.
again, if you had to bet $1000 on which giants starter would win 18 games prior to the season, would you have put it all on bumgarner? of course not (if you were answering honestly).Comment -

of course you would. you're the same fraudulent pos who posts picks long after the games start. so not surprised you'd go with bumgarner 151 games in to the season.
so now im jewish hindu mexican. you cant even decide on what insult to use but youre sure you wouldve picked bumgarner.
what a dumbfuk.

#59Bumgarner had an off year last year, but before that he was solid, won me tons of money in 2012. He is actually considered the ace of the gaints for the last 3 years iirc. Guy can pitch

Stupid fukk though Bumgarner was the Giants 5th best pitcher. How dumb can you be.
This idiot is so braindead that he's oblivious to the fact that I'm mimicking his dumbass posting style.

#61cain was clearly the ace in 2012 when he went 16-5 2.79 era. bumgarner was 4th best in 2011 when cain, lincecum and vogelsong all had era in the 2s, while bumgarner had 3.21 era. 2013 was the only season when bumgarner was considered the "ace" only by default because every other starter had a horrific season (all under .500).Comment -

Any attempt to try and see any lasting correlation on year to year pitcher wins is simply ignorant.Comment -

#66Not even close to ridiculous, Last year 4 pitcher won 18 or more games, the previous year those pitchers averaged 13 wins, increasing thier totals by an average of 6 wins and all winning at least 5 more games in 2013 than 2012.
Any attempt to try and see any lasting correlation on year to year pitcher wins is simply ignorant.
8 pitchers won 13 games in 2013...... these same players have won avg of 10 games in 2014. a drop off of 3 wins per pitcher and 24 less total wins than the season before. sure, they have a start or two left to go but the fact is they have pitched worse than they have in the previous season.
like i said, it's ridiculous to try and correlate future performance on something as simple as how many games a pitcher won the previous season.Comment -
