Top Maine sports betting apps reviewed
Maine will only allow each of its four federally recognized tribes to sign deals with one of the existing sports betting companies, meaning there can only be up to four operational betting apps in the state.
Three of the four tribes (collectively known as the Wabanaki) announced a partnership with Caesars Sportsbook. The fourth has announced a deal with DraftKings, meaning only two sportsbook apps launched on Day One in Maine.
Members of the Sports Betting Alliance (FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and Fanatics) had previously expressed their displeasure with the proposed revenue-sharing model between the operators and the tribes. At this point, only DraftKings applied for (and was granted) a license in Maine.
Things can always change, though. Business deals expire or are terminated all the time. It's still possible that Maine will see other online sportsbooks in the future, so we've reviewed five of the best sportsbooks in the country, including Caesars and DraftKings, as we anticipate which sports betting apps will arrive in Maine.
1. DraftKings Maine betting app 👑
We are surely not alone in putting DraftKings at the top of a list containing the best betting apps. DK has repeatedly proven to have a superior betting menu, especially regarding micro and futures betting on major sports.
On top of that, DraftKings has a couple of unique characteristics: the data-driven Stats Hub, where you can crunch numbers and make smarter decisions based on various statistical trends and elements, and Pools, which offers a range of pari-mutuel betting competitions.
The app runs smoothly on both major mobile operating systems (Apple and Android), and constant updates make sure it stays that way.

2. Caesars Maine betting app 🏛
Caesars Sportsbook is poised to be the early leader in Maine. It may emerge as Maine's best sports betting app, especially since there will only be two to choose from. The Caesars app has a slick interface and a completely streamlined design, allowing users to find and place bets easily.
If you don’t know what to bet on, Caesars will suggest a few “Quick Picks,” primarily consisting of regular and same-game parlays on popular sports. There are loads of daily odds boosts with a now-extended max bet limit of $102.

Sports available on Maine betting apps
The betting market on Maine sportsbook apps is very broad and features a variety of mainstream and niche markets. The best sportsbooks in the country provide betting options on around two dozen global sports. However, the market selection is the most extensive on these popular sports:
Football 🏈
From the NFL to Division I NCAA tournaments, football is the primary interest of most U.S. and Maine sports fans. Sportsbooks address this by offering a vast range of football bets, from standard spreads and moneylines to a long line of proposition bets, live micro-bets, same-game parlays, futures, and specials. You can find our weekly NFL picks all season long.
Basketball 🏀
Basketball is another prominent sport in Maine and a focal point for many sports bettors. Aside from the NBA and NCAA, Maine betting apps offer action on top-level European leagues and international tournaments.
Popular markets include moneyline, point spread, totals, first-half betting, and over/under on players’ points, assists, and rebounds. If you're looking for expert tips, visit our NBA picks page.
Baseball ⚾
MLB has the longest and most action-packed season out of all major league sports, thus creating an abundance of betting opportunities. The most popular markets are moneyline, run line, and run over/under.
There are also plenty of interesting props, such as how many home runs or strikeouts will be in the game. You can even micro-bet the outcome of a singular at-bat if you want. Our MLB picks section is a great place to get started.
Hockey 🏒
Moneyline, 60-minute moneyline, puck line, and over/under are some standard hockey bets. Of course, as with other popular sports, hockey betting is full of exciting props and event-specific markets.
Of course, the best Maine sports betting apps have extensive markets on the NHL but also post odds on various minor and international leagues. DraftKings, for example, has 18 different hockey betting markets, including the NCAA, over a dozen European leagues, and even international tournaments. See our NHL picks for the latest expert insight.
Soccer ⚽
Soccer fans can find many different leagues and events to bet on, including MLS, the coveted UEFA Champions League, and top-shelf European leagues like the English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A.
The three-way moneyline, goals totals, and over/under number of bookings and corners are some of the hottest soccer betting markets. Our soccer picks page has all the latest insight on big matches around the world.
Tennis 🎾
Tennis matches also come with a broad market range, featuring everything from match-winner bets to live betting on the winner of the next point. Unlike other popular sports, which usually have an offseason of several months, mainstream tennis tournaments are played almost every few weeks, from the Australian Open in January to the ATP Finals and Davis Cup in late November.
Other sports ⛳
Some other sports you may stumble upon at Maine betting apps include golf, MMA, motorsports (NASCAR and F1), boxing, table tennis, Australian rules football, volleyball, rugby, and lacrosse, to name a few. We have all of these (and more) covered in our section for other sports picks.
Maine sports teams to bet on
Maine is a state without a professional major league team. However, the Maine Black Bears represent the University of Maine as a Division I program across several sports in the America East Conference. Unfortunately, the Maine sports betting law prohibits betting on games involving in-state collegiate programs.
Many Maine sports fans flock to pro teams in nearby states or Canadian provinces. The Montreal Canadiens (NHL) and the Boston Red Sox (MLB) both have a strong following in Maine.

How to choose the best Maine sports betting app
With up to four Maine betting apps to choose from (and only two on launch day), singling out the best one for you shouldn’t be too difficult. Still, you should apply proper analysis to get the right answer for your own personal betting style. Here’s what to look into before making your decision.
User experience
See how the app “flows” when you use it. Sometimes, you’ll have to rush to make a timely bet, so you don’t want to worry about the app being too slow or requiring too many extra navigation steps.
Interface
The interface plays a crucial role in shaping a good user experience. Jumping between sports and markets should be made easy, the bet slip design should be streamlined, and the app must have a certain visual appeal that does not sacrifice clarity and readability.
Features
Another way sportsbooks appeal to bettors is by offering them special features that improve their game and help them implement an effective betting strategy.
DraftKings' Stats Hub, FanDuel's Parlay Hub, and Caesars' Loyalty Rewards program features are prime examples. Loads of tools and functions can make your betting experience more enjoyable, so it’s just a matter of which features you find the most valuable.
Bet types
All sportsbooks offer the same standard betting types, like moneylines and spreads. However, if you want something more exotic, like predicting the outcome of the next play or guessing how many regular season wins a team will have, you should opt for a sportsbook known for having a broad market selection.
Payout speed
Are you eager to enjoy your hard-earned winnings? Check the betting app’s payment policy to see how long you must wait for the money to reach your bank account. Luckily, Caesars and the other likely Maine candidates are all on our list of the fastest payout sportsbooks.
Banking options
Examine the number of available banking options, corresponding deposit and withdrawal limits, and other important rules. Online betting apps in the U.S. are relatively uniform regarding payment policies and the availability of payment methods. Still, there could be slight discrepancies that may sway your decision.
Registering an account
No matter which betting app you select, the registration process will look pretty much the same. Most importantly, it should be easy and quick, getting you into the action without any serious delays.
Importance of multiple apps and line shopping
Here’s a brilliant idea — just install every Maine betting app you can. With up to four different operators allowed in the state, there's no reason not to shop around. It’s perfectly allowed and won’t take up much space on your mobile device.
There are currently only be two options available, though: Caesars and DraftKings. You can (and should) still use them both to seek out the best value on your bets.
Another reason to use multiple betting apps is to shop for the best lines and odds. For example, DraftKings may offer the Boston Celtics to beat the New York Knicks on the moneyline at -150 odds. But Caesars could have the same wager at -140, meaning you'd make more profit if you bet the Celtics and they win. If you have an account on both sportsbooks, you’ll easily switch from one to another whenever there’s a good opportunity.
Maine sports betting apps rules and regulations
The Maine sports betting law allows for operating both retail and online sportsbooks, but in a limited capacity.
Four federally recognized Native American tribes (the Aroostook Band of Micmacs, Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, Passamaquoddy Tribe, and Penobscot Nation) are the sole license holders and will each be allowed to partner with a single sports betting company. Meanwhile, up to ten retail sportsbooks can also open at the state’s existing brick-and-mortar casinos, commercial racetracks, and off-track betting facilities.
When online sports betting launched in Maine, only two sportsbook apps went live: Caesars and DraftKings.
The minimum betting age is 21, and betting on collegiate games featuring in-state teams is prohibited. (Out of states are still fair game.) Specialty betting markets like politics and entertainment awards are also banned in Maine, as in other states.
To place an online wager, you must be physically located in Maine or at least in one of the states where the given sportsbook is cleared to operate (but doesn’t have a dedicated app for that state).
