My Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest prediction looks at how to capitalize on a Reds team that looks destined to pick up its first win of the season in Matchweek 2. But, with Liverpool lined as a -200 moneyline betting favorite, we'll have to find markets other than the three-way line.

Play from Anfield gets underway at 7:30 p.m. ET, airing on USA Network.

💰 Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest best bet

Check out all of our soccer betting analysis and expert predictions this season.

Liverpool Over 18.5 shots (-120)

Forest should spend long stretches defending on Saturday, and Liverpool's 27-shot performance against Newcastle in Matchweek 1 was excellent evidence that their new attacking structure under Andoni Iraola, without Mo Salah, can generate significant volume.

Liverpool's aggressive fullbacks and attacking midfielders (do they have anything but? I'm not sure there are any defensive ones there) should keep the pressure on throughout the game, even if Forest can prevent clear-cut chances. After eking out of a draw with a last-gasp pen in their opener, they'll be looking to set the record straight in their opener at Anfield.

🆚 Who will win Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest?

Liverpool should control possession and territory from the jump, pinning Forest for large stretches of the game. Forest are still adapting to life under Glasner and his three-back system, and they need more time to gel. They could see a few chances on the counter, but Liverpool should win convincingly.

Score prediction: Liverpool 3, Forest 1

🔥 More Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest expert picks

Liverpool Over 2.5 goals (+162)

Liverpool's attack looked solid in the opener, posting 2.73xG on 27 shots, but it should be noted that 1.24 of that xG number came from set plays, and only 2.19xG from non-penalty shots. Whether they get the same set-play chances against Forest as they did against Newcastle remains to be seen. There is plenty of reason to believe Liverpool will again dominate possession and create plenty of chances.

I would peg Liverpool at two goals as a baseline, which makes the value here quite reasonable. The implied probability here is 38.17%; it should probably be closer to 45%, so it's worth a partial unit play. Isak and Wirtz looked excellent in the opener, and I expect them to shine again on Saturday; there should be plenty of shot volume (as indicated in my best bet).

Liverpool Over 6.5 corners (-110)

It's just another play on the same game theory, expressing Liverpool's expected dominance in a different way. All three of these wagers can hit in any combination, from all three to singles; they're not all naturally tied to one another.

The projected shot volume, however, should naturally create opportunities for blocks and deflections that can turn into corners. Aggressive fullback positioning should also generate crosses, and Liverpool had about 27 of them in their opener. I'm expecting Liverpool to be constantly attacking - not just holding meaningless possession - which should help this one along.
