Game 4 of the highly entertaining series between the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild is set for this afternoon. Puck drop from Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul, Minn., is set for 5:30 p.m. ET and will air on TBS/truTV and stream on HBO Max.

My Stars vs. Wild prediction favors the visitors to grab a 3-1 series lead before heading home, leaning on the superior goaltender to get the job done. I'm also going to break down my favorite player prop and SGP as we look to build on a profitable playoff run.

🏆 Who will win Stars vs. Wild?

Fresh off a grueling double-OT game just 72 hours ago, I'm going to side with the team that's displayed better special teams and has a more-than-capable goaltender between the pipes.

Dallas' power play and penalty kill have been better through three games, and both were better through the regular season, so it's not an anomaly.

It's not every day we get plus-money value on a team with an edge in special teams and a goalie that has shown he can get it done in big games. Let's cash in.

Score prediction: Dallas 3, Minnesota 1

💰 Stars vs. Wild prediction & best bet

Stars moneyline (+115)

Continuing with the above, I have faith that Oettinger is on the right track. Since being shelled in the series opener, he's allowed just five goals on 62 shots (.919 SV%).

That's in part because the Stars have made an in-series adjustment, using what Wild coach John Hynes called "aggressive defensive shadowing" on star forwards Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy. Kaprizov, in particular, was held to just two shots last game despite playing the equivalent of 4.5 periods.

Dallas has also limited high danger chances, particularly on the PK, and that ties into the Stars winning a low-scoring Game 4.

🔥 Best Stars vs. Wild player prop bet

Miro Heiskanen to record 1+ assists (+100)

Playing time breeds opportunity, and that's plenty clear for Heiskanen, who sits third in the postseason in TOI (31:02). The workhorse blueliner has been critical to the Stars' PP success, logging all three of his assists in the series on special teams, one each game.

As Dallas looks to catch Minnesota's forecheck and take advantage of quick transitions, the outlet pass is extra critical. Heiskanen has also been the beneficiary of the hot playoff starts from Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston, both of whom have three goals and five points through three games.

Let's look for him to add an extra helper in Game 4, although I wouldn't want to pay any shorter than perhaps -110 on this line. I'm also going to roll the dice a little bit on the to record a power-play point with such great odds.

🚀 Stars vs. Wild same-game parlay

We're actually going to combine our first three plays above to make our SGP for this one, as the odds at bet365 are brought along nicely by playing a player point combined with the Under. We're also getting the best price on Dallas' moneyline there, and instead of tussling with the 5.5 total, we're getting the flat 6.

💵 Stars vs. Wild SGP picks

  • Stars moneyline (+120)
  • Under 6 (-115)
  • Miro Heiskanen to record 1+ assists (+100)

Best odds: +625 via bet365 (0.25u -> 1.56u)

💡 How I'm betting Stars vs. Wild

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

This has been the story all playoffs, I'm going to dedicate two units flat to my moneyline/total/player prop picks and sprinkle a quarter of a unit on the parlay as a little fun roll of the dice. Bankroll management helps keep things in control.

You have to be careful not to spread too thin during major events like playoffs of a heavily-bet sport. The best sports betting sites have plenty of data to set their lines at by this time of year, things are sharp. Proceed cautiously.

📊 Live Stars vs. Wild odds: Game 4

On the note of the best sports betting apps having sharp lines this time of year, this line has barely moved since it opened. At BetMGM, the action opened at DAL +115 / MIN -140, and has ranged between DAL +110 and +118 as the day has progressed. Not a lot of movement.

The total is showing a little variance, some operators trading at a flat 6 with the Under juiced a little, others are trading with 5.5 with the Over heavily juiced. Only 47% of public tickets have been written for the Over.
