Kraken vs. Rangers Odds, Picks, Predictions: Can New York Take Advantage of Tired Seattle?

Coming off two straight losses, the Seattle Kraken take their road trip to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers. Here are our top Kraken vs. Rangers NHL picks based on the best NHL odds.

The Kraken, coming off Thursday's loss at New Jersey, are 3-1 in the second game of a back-to-back.

Seattle controlled play against the Devils, but goalie MacKenzie Blackwood stopped 33 of 34 shots and New Jersey got a pair of power play goals from defenseman Dougie Hamilton.

The Rangers kicked it up a notch in 2023, going 13-2-2 in 17 matchups. They're a heavy favorite as the rested home team facing a Seattle unit that played Thursday.

The road warrior Kraken lost their first two games on this current trip, dropping matchups at the N.Y. Islanders and Devils.

Seattle famously swept a seven-game road trip earlier in the year and the Kraken suffered a multi-goal loss in just five of 25 road contests. 

Penalty killing can be an issue for Seattle, in large part due to goaltending. Their .825 save percentage during four-on-five play ranks 31st. That's enough reason to take the Kraken to cover the puck line rather than to win outright.

Both the Rangers and Kraken are mediocre possession teams. Seattle depends on exceptional shooting to drive its success, scoring on an NHL-best 11.6% of shots.

Like Seattle, the Rangers are better on the road. They have a 15-9-4 record at Madison Square Garden and goaltender Igor Shesterkin has a .908 home SV% compared to a sparkling .930 road SV%.

The Rangers added right winger Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola in a trade with the St. Louis Blues Thursday. Tarasenko should upgrade New York's attack, combining with fellow Russian Artemi Panarin, but Tarasenko went five games without a point so it's rash to assume he'll score a bunch in his first contest as a Ranger.

The Kraken are a good enough team that, even if they don't pull off the upset, they should keep this one close.
