Despite falling in overtime in Game 3, I'm banking on the Hurricanes to bounce back after extra rest. This has been an even series, with three one-goal games, and the Canes know they'll need to step it up a notch tonight to avoid a 3-1 deficit. Carolina dictated play in the first and third periods, posting possession and SOG metrics that often lead to victories. 

We don't know yet if the Canes will turn back to Frederick Andersen, or if Brandon Bussi - who came in during Game 3 and was solid until an unlucky bounce ended the game - will get the nod. Either way, I'm comfortable that the Hurricanes get the job done tonight.

I mean, why stop here? We've seen totals of nine, seven, and nine through the first three games of the series, and why there's bound to be some that lean into the philosophy of tonight being a tight, defensive game as the Hurricanes look to not let the series get away, there's just too much tactically that's leading to another Over in the cards. 

First, Carolina's aggressive forechecking has been forcing Vegas into turnovers (although not as many as Carolina!) that are leading to excellent shooting opportunities. Vegas defenders have had to block a whopping 55 shots across the last two games to keep the numbers down. But that forecheck has also enabled the Golden Knights to capitalize on their counterattacks. Both teams have also found success on the power play over their last two games, potting four goals with the man advantage.

Jalen Chatfield Over 1.5 blocked shots (-130)

Very little in the world of sports betting player props isn't bred from opportunity (or a lack thereof, if you're into Unders!). Chatfield has been a rock for the Hurricanes' blueline this series, logging minutes in the second d-pairing and the top penalty-kill unit. He's only been on the ice for one even-strength goal against and has been piling up blocked shots. 

He's picked up 10 blocked shots through the first three games of the series as his defensive zone time has spiked. Vegas likes to utilize a heavy cycle as it tries to get pucks on net from the wings, but that presents and opportunity to block shots. Whether it's Andersen or Bussi in net tonight, the Canes know they'll have to limit pucks on net: they need their vet to recover, or they need their rookie to get a safe start. That should result in the d-men putting it all on the line. 

And, if we get another OT game (as we have the last two games), well then that's just extra time to pile up stats.

You have to be careful not to spread yourself too thin during major events like the playoffs of a heavily bet sport. Just because we're getting toward the end of the playoffs doesn't mean to go wild. We haven't seen a lot of movement in this line or total, but that's not entirely surprising given that we're four games into the series. Traders at the best sports betting sites are comfortable with their lines and it doesn't require much tweaking, if any at all. 

We might see some movement once word gets out which goalie is between the pipes for Carolina, but it remains to be seen how that will actually impact things. The public will likely get to Vegas with more money if Bussi, the backup, is in net. But he's coming off a great showing in game 3 and had a fantastic season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see traders hold tight.
