With Game 3 between the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens on tap tonight from Bell Centre (8 p.m. ET, TNT), I offer my Hurricanes vs. Canadiens prediction.
The Hurricanes are the -134 betting favorite for Monday's pivotal contest, and I'm backing them to take the 2-1 series lead. Rod Brind'Amour's team was back to its irrepressible best in Game 2, which should continue in Montreal. After his impressive Game 2 display, my play prop features Nikolaj Ehlers.

🏆 Who will win Hurricanes vs. Canadiens?
The Hurricanes returned to their best in Game 2, outshooting the Canadiens 26-12 and winning the expected goals battle 2.95 to 1.55. Despite playing at the raucous and frenzied Bell Centre, I don't expect them to take their foot off the gas pedal.
The Hurricanes were caught off guard in Game 1, which won't happen again. That said, it will be another tight-checking, low-scoring game, with Frederik Andersen playing better than he has through the first two games.
Score prediction: Hurricanes 3, Canadiens 2
💰 Hurricanes vs. Canadiens prediction & best bet
Hurricanes ML (-134)
Rod Brind'Amour's team recaptured their relentlessly aggressive style in Game 2, putting the Canadiens on the back foot from the opening puck drop. They were superior in all facets, except goaltending.
I expect a bounce-back performance from Andersen, and he'll need to be at his best to stave off the Canadiens' early push.
If Andersen can keep the door shut early, the Hurricanes will gradually take the impetus and continue where they left off in Game 2, playing with an unrelenting forecheck.
In addition, the Canadiens haven't been as good at home, with a 2-4 record, while the Hurricanes are 4-0 on the road.
🔥 Best Hurricanes vs. Canadiens player prop bet
Nikolaj Ehlers Over 0.5 points (-115)
Nikolaj Ehlers enjoyed a monster outing in Game 2, scoring two goals, including the overtime winner. Omnipresent and threatening throughout, Ehlers had five shots on goal and six shot attempts.
That performance will build his confidence heading into a critical Game 3, and I believe he'll ride the momentum into Montreal. Ehlers has six points in nine games, notching five in the previous five.
The -115 price offered by FanDuel is the best at the best sports betting sites.
🚀 Hurricanes vs. Canadiens same-game parlay
The Hurricanes allowed two goals or fewer in eight of nine postseason games, which is why I'm leaning toward the Under in Game 3. Carolina has been perfect on the road, the Habs have struggled at home, and Ehlers was outstanding in Game 2. He'll be ready for another pivotal role at the Bell Centre.

💡 How I'm betting Hurricanes vs. Canadiens
Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.
I'm least confident about the Under, as three of the previous four games at the Bell Centre went Over. That said, the Hurricanes are the best defensive team remaining in the playoffs, and they have a knack for suffocating opposing offenses, no matter how elite.
The Hurricanes will be at their best again tonight. Much will depend on how Andersen rebounds from a subpar Game 1 and 2. I expect him to be much busier and significantly sharper.
Ehlers was the best player on the ice in Game 2, and I like him to carry his momentum into the Bell Centre. The last two picks get a unit each ($10).
