I'm backing Rick Tocchet's team to bounce back after a dismal opener in my Flyers vs. Hurricanes prediction, although I'm still taking the Carolina to prevail.
The Hurricanes are the substantial -260 betting favorite, and my best pick backs the Under, with both teams' goaltenders amidst superb runs. I'm featuring Taylor Hall, who has at least a point in 10 of the previous 11, for my player prop.

The Flyers were not ready for what awaited in Game 1, and I expect them to be significantly better in Game 2. Despite the Flyers losing three of four regular-season meetings, each game went to overtime, with three requiring a shootout.
Philly was excellent down the stretch on the road, winning 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh. They'll keep it competitive, eventually losing 3-2.

Both goaltenders are playing at an elite level, with the best and second-best goals saved above expected of the remaining goaltenders. Andersen is alone on top with 9, and Vladar has 6. Vladar hasn't allowed more than 3 goals, and Andersen has allowed 2 or fewer in all five games.
Carolina is a defensive beast at home, and the Flyers' anemic power play can't bail them out.

Hall has been the head of the snake, notching at least one point in all five postseason games. He has 8 points, amassing 2 three times and 1 in the other two.
His line has scored 10 of the Hurricanes' 14 goals, with Logan Stankoven, whom I featured in my NHL player props today, netting 6.
At some point, the other lines will kick it up a gear or two, but until then, I have no issue relying on Hall, Stankoven, and Jackson Blake to cash these best. They are sizzling hot, and nobody has proven they can slow this runaway train.

The Hurricanes were so dominant in Game 1, which gives me pause when backing the Flyers to lose by a goal or less. Philly should bounce back, considering its recent track record. However, I'm only willing to invest half a unit on the pick.
I'm confident in the other plays and am investing a full unit ($10) on each. Both teams have been defensively superb, with the goaltenders seeing the puck exquisitely.
Taylor Hall and his linemates have dominated the postseason, and they don't look like slowing down.
