🏒 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights Prediction & Odds: Game 3 NHL Picks for Today, May 24
Last Updated: May 24, 2026 11:18 AM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link
Before the Western Conference Final got started, the Colorado Avalanche were big favorites to knock off the Vegas Golden Knights. Following two games in Colorado, the Avs find themselves in a 2-0 hole. My Avalanche vs. Golden Knights prediction breaks down if the hosts can grab a 3-0 series lead.
Sportsbooks don't think so. Colorado is listed as a -148 moneyline betting favorite ahead of puck drop from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET. You can catch all the action on ESPN.

🏆 Who will win Avalanche vs. Golden Knights?
The 2-0 series line doesn't tell the full tale of the series. In both games, the Avalanche have outshot the Golden Knights, which isn't surprising. Colorado dominated CF% during the regular season, taking just shy of 60% of all shot attempts in their games. The real issue is based on shooting percentage: it's about 4% in this series, well below their 11.1% mark in the regular season.
There should be some positive regression coming on that front for the Avs.
Score prediction: Avalanche 3, Golden Knights 2
💰 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights prediction & best bet
Avalanche moneyline (-142)
Continuing from the above, looking at xG from the first two games, Vegas has been particularly lucky on the defensive end of the ice.
Per Moneypuck, Vegas goalie Carter Hart has already saved 3.23 goals above his expected mark. Colorado is logging a low shooting percentage but still getting the best of the Corsi situation and outshooting VGK, so this number is likely to see a little fall-back-to-earth moment.
It might not be a win-or-go-home for the Avalanche, but trailing 3-0 is a near-impossible situation to be in. Expect them to get the job done.
🔥 Best Avalanche vs. Golden Knights player prop bet
Gabriel Landeskog 3+ shots on goal (+105)
Landeskog is spending plenty of his time-on-ice in the offensive zone in the playoffs, and in recent games, that's been paying off. He's logged over 20 minutes in each of the first two games of the series, getting three shots on goal in each. Top power-play minutes and top-line minutes have resulted in the Swede posting 2.8 shots per game over his 10 outings, and with so much on the line tonight, you can bet that the Avalanche won't be holding back.
Trading at plus-money is excellent for this prop, as some of the best sports betting sites have this lined in the -105 range. Get the value while you can.
🚀 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights same-game parlay
I'm going to roll the Avs moneyline with the two player shot props, leaving the total out of the equation just in case things get out of hand. As per usual, I'm getting the best price on this one at bet365, where you can find some of the best sportsbook promos.
For Colorado to win, it's going to need to get pucks on net and hope that it can get through Hart.

💡 How I'm betting Avalanche vs. Golden Knights
Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.
In general I've played exactly 2.25 units on each game (2 units on three or four main plays a bonus quarter-unit on the parlay). Tonight I'm bumping it up a full unit, as I really liked two player props for the shots on goals more than usual.
I do fully expect Colorado is going to have to fire at will tonight and scrap to get back into this series, so I'm bending my own rules a bit. With plus-money on both we really only need one to hit to make it work.
📊 Live Avalanche vs. Golden Knights odds: Game 3
There hasn't been a lot of line movement at the best sports betting apps, which opened in the range of Colorado (-145) vs. Vegas (+120). There's a small majority (sub-60%) of the tickets coming in on the visitors, as the public still seems to have the belief that the visitors can get themselves back into this series.
The total all comes down to preference, with some operators offering a flat 6 and others offering the 5.5. My preference is to take the juice on the flat 6 and not sweat an ENG ruining things at the end of the night.
