The Tyson family has a chance to accomplish a rare feat if Jorydn Tyson is a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after older brother Jaylon Tyson was selected in Round 1 of the NBA draft two years ago. But who will draft Jordyn Tyson?

The New York Giants (No. 5 and No. 10) and New Orleans Saints (No. 8) are the biggest favorites to select Tyson, according to prediction market apps. The Arizona State pass-catcher is viewed as one of several likely top 20 picks at wide receiver; however, there has been speculation that his injury history could cause a slide.

I've spent the past year watching film and grading every top prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. Below, I break down Tyson's draft profile, including his biggest strengths and weaknesses; my full scouting report and draft grade on Tyson; and which team I expect to draft the former Sun Devils' star in the first round on Thursday, April 23, as part of our 2026 NFL Draft predictions

Jordyn Tyson strengths

There's an argument to be made that Tyson is the most well-rounded and pro-ready wide receiver in the NFL draft. He's a savvy route runner who knows how to tempo and stem his routes to cause false steps and attack defensive backs' leverage. Plus, he possesses an advanced release package that helps him win off the line of scrimmage.

While Tyson isn't a burner, he's a twitchy mover that can create separation with the way he varies his routes and keeps speed through them - his lateral quickness is impressive for a 6-foot-2, 200-plus-pound receiver. His quickness, route-running skill set, and coverage awareness/recognition will make him a consistent chain mover (88 of his 136 receptions the past two seasons went for first downs).

Tyson's body control and ball skills are evident in his ability to win contested catches and make spectacular circus catches (54.8% contested-catch rate over the past two seasons). He also managed to clean up his drops this past season, taking his drop rate from 8.5% in 2024 to 1.6% in 2025.

Jordyn Tyson weaknesses

The biggest knock on Tyson is his health. In four seasons, he played in 33 games, hitting double-digit games just once (during his breakout 2024 campaign).

Tyson tore his ACL as a freshman at Colorado (2022), which caused him to miss most of his sophomore season at ASU (2023). He then missed the Sun Devils' Big 12 Championship win and College Football Playoff appearance as a junior due to a broken collarbone (2024), dealt with an ankle injury heading into 2025, and missed games throughout 2025 due to a hamstring injury.

In terms of on-field weaknesses, Tyson doesn't add much after the catch. He averaged 5.1 YAC per reception and forced just 13 missed tackles on 159 receptions in his collegiate career. His leaner frame, which plays a role in his YAC struggles, is also cause for concern when it comes to his ability to beat stronger/more physical press corners.

Jordyn Tyson scouting report

Unlike several of the top playmakers in the 2026 NFL Draft, Tyson was not a known name coming out of high school. A three-star recruit and the No. 215 wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class, Tyson hit the ground running as a true freshman at Colorado, leading the team in receiving yards (470 on just 22 receptions) and total touchdowns (five).

Following his lone season at Colorado, Tyson transferred, but played just 17 snaps in his first season at Arizona State while recovering from a torn ACL. However, he exploded in his third season of college football as the Sun Devils put together one of the best seasons in program history (11-3).

Tyson's 1,101 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 75 receptions put him on the map as an NFL draft prospect, with him finishing No. 3 in the Power Four in yards per route run (3.04) and No. 9 in first down receptions (51).

Even fighting through injury this past season, it wasn't hard to see how Tyson could be a first-down machine at Z-wide receiver in the NFL. Just watch what he did on the final drive against Texas Tech. While playing injured, he caught four passes for 55 yards and drew a pass interference to set up the game-winning touchdown in the upset win.

Though Tyson's overall athleticism and strength questions (which both feed into worries about his YAC value and ability to beat press) cap his ceiling as a high-end No. 2 or low-end No. 1, if he can stay healthy, he should be a QB-friendly chain-moving machine.

Jordyn Tyson draft projection & landing spots

Tyson's draft stock has been all over the place from the jump because of his injury history. And while this is a weaker draft overall, the wide receiver group is one of the stronger positions, which could push Tyson down the board for teams worried about his long-term health.

Still, it's hard to imagine a pro-ready player of Tyson's caliber slipping out of the top 20 with so many wide receiver-needy teams. There's also been increased buzz in the last week about Tyson's potential to go as early as No. 5 to the Giants. And New York acquired the No. 10 pick from the Cincinnati Bengals for Dexter Lawrence, which has shot them up the board to having a 43% chance of drafting him.

Both the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs have a 10% or better chance of drafting Tyson, with both desperate for another wide receiver, and both picking between the Giants' two top-10 picks.

Two wildcards to watch if Tyson's injury history pushes him out of the top 10 are the Los Angeles Rams (9% chance) and Miami Dolphins (7% chance). The Rams have been connected to wide receivers throughout the draft process, while the Dolphins have the worst wide receiver corps in the NFL.

Prediction: Jordyn Tyson to the Rams

Although wide receiver isn't a blatant need for Sean McVay and Les Snead, adding a third fiddle to a room with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams would be terrifying for opposing defenses. The position especially makes sense to address with Nacua in need of a new contract, and Adams turning 34 in December.

Tyson fits the mold of what McVay likes in a wide receiver, with his craftiness as a route runner and ability to play inside and outside. Given Tyson's injury history, this pick could be seen as getting a potentially Pro Bowl-caliber wide receiver at a discount in a draft that lacks talent.
