It has been carnage in NFL survivor pools with the top favorite on the board losing for two consecutive weeks (Cowboys and Rams), but our NFL survivor pool picks continue to get our followers through with some outside the box thinking, like backing the Patriots as our top strategy pick last week.

Survivor pool contestants still alive in their contests do not have two of the best AFC teams to use as they’re on bye this week (Bills and Jaguars), but that paves the way to use some more unheralded teams this week, like the 2-4 Texans (safest pick) and the 2-4 Jets (best pick).

Safest NFL survivor pick: Texans (82.5%) over Giants

Check out all of our NFL analysis and expert predictions for every game in Week 7.

Houston has won back-to-back games after starting 0-4, and the only trepidation one should have when selecting them this week is how they will respond after playing in London last week.

Putting fatigue and lengthy travel aside, this is the perfect week to fade a 3-2-1 Giants team that suddenly has a ton of question marks after entering last week in first place in the NFC East. Head coach John Harbaugh rotated four running backs, and none got more than six carries, prompting some to tell the media how hard it was to get into a rhythm.

And New York now has a quarterback controversy after J.J. McCarthy threw for 243 passing yards in the fourth quarter (the third-most in a fourth quarter in the last decade).

Whoever is under center shouldn’t matter, as Houston just lit up Jacksonville for 34 points (the most any team scored against Jacksonville since Week 10 2025) after the Jaguars were the only team to hold every opponent to 20 or fewer points leading into Week 6.

Best NFL survivor pick: Jets (69.7%) over Dolphins

Most survivor pool contestants that have made it this far likely won’t be thrilled to back a Jets team that fell to 0-7 in division games under head coach Aaron Glenn. But despite their 2-4 record, the eye test shows they’ve been much more competitive this year than last year’s 3-14 squad, and should beat a winless Dolphins team even though Miami is off a bye.

New York went 3-for-10 on third down and 0-for-2 on fourth down against New England last week, and they went 0-for-3 in red-zone scoring opportunities. But the Jets still lost by only one possession despite that misfortune, and the Dolphins don’t have a defensive front as stingy as it was in short-yardage situations to stop the Jets offense.

NFL survivor strategy pick: Cowboys (68.6%) over Eagles

Those who mapped out a plan for when to use Philadelphia in survivor pools likely scrapped those plans completely, given Jalen Hurts’ blood clot issues that will keep him out for the next three weeks, if not longer. The Eagles may scramble to add a veteran quarterback for insurance soon, but for now, Dallas is a great survivor-pool play, and Tanner McKee under center in a divisional game is a strong option.

Dallas doesn’t come without concerns, as it was shut out in the first half last week for the first time since 2021 Week 9 (snapping the fourth longest streak in NFL history- 86 games). McKee struggled under pressure completing just 6-of-15 passes with a 52.9 quarterback rating. He wasn’t helped by a running game that generated 35 yards while three of their top backs remain injured.

Philadelphia has had four straight games with fewer than 250 total yards on offense, and doesn’t exude any confidence it can snap its four-game losing streak, the longest under head coach Nick Sirianni.

NFL survivor pick to avoid: Vikings (71.0%) over Colts

The Vikings are one of three unbeaten teams left and are rested off a bye week, while facing a Colts team that lost to a previously winless Titans squad for the first time in seven matchups. But Minnesota’s lack of offensive firepower and Indianapolis’ ability to avoid the Vikings’ tricky blitzing defense by using Jonathan Taylor in the running game makes this a tricky matchup.

Minnesota is off to its tenth 5-0 start in team history and second in the last three seasons, while ranking first in scoring defense and third in total defense. But the Colts still held Tennessee to 11 first downs and 186 total yards, and would have logged another stress-free victory if they hadn't committed three turnovers and gone 2-for-4 in the red zone.

Circa Survivor contest update entering Week 7

Entering Monday, 1,629 of the 2,910 entries (56%) that were still alive in the Circa Sports survivor pool entering Week 6 were eliminated, with the Rams and Colts responsible for 1,604 (98.5%) of those eliminated entries. Those two teams were two of the top three most widely used teams in the contest this past week, which now leaves fewer than 1,300 contestants remaining entering Week 7.
